I currently have some 6 x 9's in the back and i am running them directly off the back speakers. I connected them to the back speaker qires coming out the back of my HU with a little plastic clamp thing.

Will this split the power so that the speakers are recieving less?

Will it get less power/audio quality than being diretly connected to the HU not the wires?

Thanks in advance?

Slightly confused, do you mean you used scotch locks

If so then if you have the standard rear speakers still in place you are likely to damage the HU outputs. You would be showing each side a 2ohm load instead of 4 ohm and HU amps are not designed to run like this.

Hmmm, Not sure of the name but they are little blue plastic clips that you feed the two sets of wires then close the plastic clip and it cuts into the wires creating a connection.

Still have standard rear speakers and 6X9's. What should i do? Cut the rear speaker wires so just the 6X9's are getting power?

Well I would definately not run the stereo like you have it now, you'll damage the HU eventually. Sounds like you've been lucky so far.

I'd just unplug the standard speakers. Cutting the wires means it will be difficult to put back to standard later.

Ah right. Unplug from where? Wouldnt this mean getting behind the back door trim?

Yeah I'd just remove the door panels and then pull the plug out of the speaker. Shouldn't take much doing.

Well just had the rear trim half off and located where the wires join the speaker but couldnt get them off.

Problem is i couldnt see it, just feel it as the trim was only half off.

Any tips for getting the wires out of the speaker?

Can i just take out the back speaker wires at the little block thingy and wire the 6 x 9's in? How do i go about doing that?
