Im looking for an induction kit for my Pick up.
1.6 MPi, I will measure the intake pipe and get back to you Bill.

Wish you had just posted one Bill, now I am spoiled for choise. What size MAF is on the Ibiza?
Presume these just connect directly to the MAF? Would it be worth me getting a small bit of SS pipe made to router it a bit closer to the hole in the wing? Presume these would all just give a very deep growl and a small DV noise? What are they like for heatsoak where they sit?
You on MSN mate as I could do with discussing these with you: bmcn85@hotmail.com if you are.

More cones than the M25! :D
Dor.
Looking at your pictures thats a nice one you used to have on! Where did you get the heatsheild though? And how did it sound when your car was as close to standard as possible? At a guess I'd say a LOT noisier than Dynatwist growl wise but less noise DV wise?
Bryan.
Bill,
It would appear my dimensions are a little weedy when compared to a 1.8T, is there anything you have listed for my 'modest' intake ;)

Ibiza MAF is 70mm OD.
Green also list straight length of rubber hose in 300mm length, which combined with a small steel connector ring, could be used to extend the filter further from the MAF, nearer the inner wing.. remembering the overall length of the cone has to be allowed for.. (depending on what takes your fancy)
Closer to the wing is better than not, but will also say, open airfilters in a 20VT engine bay WILL allow hot air to be breathed in.. They will sound louder, wooshing on DV, growling on low rpms etc, BUT the downside is hot-warm air, particularly in the summer.

There are listed 65mm ones which should clamp down to suit..
for example:
Power Twin Cone-65mm entry, 120mm OD, 150mm long-TA1.65-£55.50
or
Conical Powercone-65mm entry, 140mm OD x 120mm OD x 130mm long-AC1.65-£57.99
or
Rubber end cone-65mm entry, 100mm OD x 150mm long-25 degree entry-B9.65BC-£50.95
or
Cylindrical Cone-65mm entry, 100mm OD x 150mm long-B3.65-£31.99
and there's loads more.... but I have to stop somewhere... :)
Prices plus vat & carriage but subject to SCN discounts
How did the one you have on perform heat soak wise? Is that a heat sheild that you had on and where was it from?
Do you think it would be ok in the summer if it was mounted as close to the wing as possible with a heatsheild and piping feeding cold air up like it does with the Dyna.

My old one (which was a Green PowerCone twin cone jobbie) as reusing Jabba's metal shield which I modded for improved MAF mouting (less vibration). I replaced the then Jabba filter which was a stainless steel gauze type. - not a type I personally like due to questionable dust filtration, so I changed for as big a twin cone as I could fit in their heatshield. There was a small feed pipe into the section which was a legacy of my old Hurricane filter-80mm flexi. It did'nt breath engine bay air like this. I cant say I experienced heat soak (but how could you tell) aswith >300bhp the odd bhp potentially lost are not missed.
If you want to make something, just shield the engine side, use the battery as a part shield also and bung in a cone filter.. The air from the inner wing will be readily available to be drawn in. (make sure the factory intake hose is removed of course to make room)

Having been running an open cone for about 9 months now, I can say that the hot air issue IS an issue, but not as much of one as you may think...
OK, town driving, or if you've been stationary for a while, especially in the summer you will notice that you are drawing in hot air. Having said that though, once out on the open road, such is the airflow through the engine compartment that it isn't really an issue.
For best results, a heatshield is needed along with a cold air feed... A&M were meant to be on the ball with this but their Ibiza kits have taken the priority.
At the end of the day, whacking in an open cone filter is a cheaper option than the likes of the Dynatwist etc, and seeing as you get what you pay for, there are some drawbacks to it.
However, the bit of induction growl you get is good, the turbo noice is louder (sounds like a bigger turbo!), and the sound of an atmos dv (not loud though, but you can hear it!) are the winning points...
Don't suppose you still have the heatsheild lying about do you Bill? ;)
I am liking the idea of ope filter and heatsheild. Dont know anyone near me that could manufacture me one. No companies sell them?

Really interested in doing this as a temporary measure as i have a spare filter. Is there ne other connections like Vac pipes that need mouniting into the air intake??
Bill any idea if green will make a CAI?? Or do they have additional piping availible seperatley to create one :)

As it happens I do have my old one yes. BUT it was for IHI so not sure if std ibiza pipework would reach it. Extension piece of pipe kinda thing probably req'd. It wont be that loud tho..
Jabba sell em, but you know that.

aux air pump needs a filtered air supply. (ibiza/Leon 20VT)
Green wont be doing an ibiza one no, but they will be doing a Golf/Leon one (not R) shortly in March they said.
The Green CAI is Dynatwist for ibiza, or RamAir, or Twister type assembly of kit from me. (RamAir and Twister being the louder of the above mentioned choice)

Why would it not be that loud? How much louder is an open filter going to be compared to a Ramair one?

Just telling you how it was.. thats all
Jans Lupo is much snortier than my ibiza.
So tell me this, what differs a simple open induction kit to a CAI? Is it just that CAI have no chance of drawing in cold air?
Trying to decide between a open kit with a custom heatsheild and cold air feed from the wing and a RAMAIR. What will be noisier?

No the opposite.. CAI which stands for Cold Air Induction does have air going to it, with Twister/Dynatwist/RamAirMaxflow type products having a physical duct feeding air into it and are enclosed.
Plain cone filters are just that.. plain and cones.
Wafting a cold air feed pipe near it and calling it a CAI is commonly done, but also laughable.
If you want to judge noise, remove your dynatwists shield cover, and viola you have a plain cone.
I am struggling to know quite what you are after... noise, open filter, closed CAI filter or what....

Sorry I meant to say no chance of drawing in hot air, not cold. Just my lack of typing skills.
Basically I am looking for as much growl noise as possible, maybe DV but not as important. That is basically it, don't care about performance increase but do not want a decrease due to sucking in hot air! So I guess my breif is simply; as much noise as possible with no adverse effects on performance or MAF.
Just stick with the Dynatwist mate.
I temporarily took my cold air feed piping off the Dynatwist and although it's a lot noisier inside the car, it's quieter outside the car. I've put it back on now. You wont get much induction growl out of the 20VT engine, it's a quiet, smooth engine. If you want induction roar then you should buy a Honda VTEC :-o
Talking about dump valve noise, people round here seem to be running with open filters with dump valve chatter. It must be their original Bosch valves, noisey but broken

I'd buy a VTEC if I could afford it. If Dyna is as noisey as it gets then I would put my standard filter back on as the noise is hardly any different.
You are correct it is a quite smooth engine but that means nothing - most of the noise comes from sucking air in and spitting it back out. Take you exhaust off and bet you won't call it quiet.
I sold my Civic VTi to buy the Ibiza. The induction noise and lack of DV sound was disappointing but get a good exhaust system and you'll be smiling ;)

well I'm confused..
You have the soundclips...
have you taken off the Dynatwist housing to try that noise out?
It does'nt get louder than that..
More noise from DV venting when chipped (which the Lupo is)

I did, and RamAir should be available from me early March.
Smaller Twister filter unit is louder than XL one for some reason, and RamAir one is similar size to Twister.
So far as I know the kit included cleaner/recoating spray in the RamAir kit... but TBC as I have'nt got my hands on the kit yet.

Thats the Hurricane (former name) which is Twister (smaller Twister as opposed an XL Twister which is what in a Dynatwist kit for 20VT Ibiza as std)

Unfortunately, for those of you who want induction noise, the turbo makes an excellent silencer of the induction, by making the air drawn into the engine a constant stream (hence the "whistle" noise), rather than the 'normal' induction "growl" (caused by the pulses of air caused by the pistons drawing the air in...)

my advise is panel filter, and enlarge intake to airbox with an 80mm flexi feed pipe.
for noise, open cone wins, or even louder something like Carbonio which is a relocation pipe + cone filter on the end, moves filter to lower in the front wing(downside of which is puddles/floods are a potential engine killa)
www.greenfilters.co.uk has options for you to browse over.
these are what I generally supply
70mm neck size you are looking for btw

panel filter is £43, 80mm flexi pipe is £19.99/1mtr and you will need to modify your airbox to accomodate the larger flexi and route it to a cold air feed location down by the bumper etc

I've got mk3 Seat ibiza Cupra 2002 and currently running BMC induction kit with cat back scorpion exhaust and Jabba custom chip. All very nice but no whoooshing noise!! :(
I think an open cone to replace BMC might provide a little more music to the ears

80mm 200mm for the ko3hybrid fitment as its connection to the 3' MAF housing
Can i have a price for the same sized Green Cotton Filter aswell?
Thanks
Camillo
The 80mm neck JR one is not that long its 175Dx140Dx172L - £46
same as this one
http://badger-5.com/bin/liam-polo/polo-jr-2.jpg
A single cone 200mm long green filters one is £58
or twin cone 200mm long version is £88
twin powercone below

I have one of each in stock currently

you are confusing the 200mm of the green with the jetex, which is 170mm long

you want a filter with higher bhp rating and have minimal space
the jr filter is 175mm base diameter x 140mm top diameter and 172mm long if you want to check what space you have available

the filter will go direct onto the MAF unless you wanted to space it out, in whihc case you would also need a stub alloy joiner also. Most fit filter onto MAF directly.

lol, you are s**t out of luck then.. colours of green, blue or red cover green filters, JR filters and K&N
panel filter in an airbox with suitable large cold air feed to it will work well and conceal the colour ;)
Apexi filters are a white i think, but not something i deal with currently.
Panel filter no good for you?

I have a completely standard 2003 Leon Cupra (AUQ). I am thinking about going for a stage 1 map and from what I’ve seen to take full advantage of the map replacing the air filter and DV are a must.

Hi Bill. When logging my k03s (revo stg2 B9 T9 bought from you + all other goodies fmic, tip, miltek) I only managed to ger 159 g/s with the dynatwist (cleaned not long ago). When I removed the shield form the dynatwist I managed 169.88 g/s witch I think is a bit low compared to others with same spec.
Would you say that a jetex fould free up more air than the dynatwist without the shield or could I see a faulty maf?

not much space in these engine bays.. a JR cone will flow well, and fit there, but you would benefit from trying to duct a cold air feed to it also.

I had another go at makeing the Jetex fillter look a bit more attractive in the engine bay today and failed, so I'v gone back to my modded airbox, I also drilled a few more holes in the bottom of the airbox to try and add a bit more induction noise
On a more concerning note when I removed the Jetex there was quite a lot of dirt partical's sitting in the TIP unfortunatly I did'nt take any pictures but Jonjay was there to witness the amount of dirt that was there and we were both suprised, Looking at the fillter from the insdie out you can see a lot of light passing through the fillter so it's easy to see why it let so much dirt through,
So moral is an open cone may let more through but at what cost
Thats what it says there Bill
ibizacupra
26-07-2010, 23:14
Never seen that myself.
These were used by Jabba on G60's as they had extremely good filtration whilst also flowing more.
Seeing bits of light through the cotton gauze is failrly normal, as the light oil coating is whats supposed to catch dust.
So what do Jetex say?
I dont make them JR do
Dirt In the TIP but not there before? Checked thoroughly before hand or only after when changing it again...?
Cars I have seen these on have'nt had dirt beyond the filter, so unless this is a dodgy one or dirt was there before, its not indicative of how they are in my experience of them
would this actually be dirt and not just blow back from the PCV ?

there is always an oil residue inside the tip from the engine itself, and its breathing system.

Ok Bill. I did want a JR but apprehensive after DK's findings.
you have to remember DK's was a used filter not new one, and previously running a foam filter which I know allow dirt in from my experience.
JR filters work fine, no different to Green Filters just colour

no pictures of mine, but sure there's some on here somewhere..
what i have done on fc08001 filters for lcr's is add an m6 stud in the end which can be used to bracket to.. if you went for an fc07003 then this could be a mounting option

Hi bill,
Just a quicky.
How much would these cost in total including vat and delivery:
JR Blue Jetex Cones:
FC-7003 - 70mm Neck
Optional to push filter nearer inner wing:
70mm silicon 45 degree elbow
70mm alloy coupler
hose clips
Also whats the difference between using the 45 degree elbow and the straight silicone joiner that i have seen being used on here?
Cheers in advanced

as per 1st post
*NEW**NEW**NEW**NEW**NEW**NEW*
JR Blue Jetex Cones:
70mm Neck - £38.30
Optional to push filter nearer inner wing:
70mm silicon 45 degree elbow - £14.40
70mm alloy coupler - £6.94
hose clips - £1.62/each
prices exclude vat and delivery
45' angle on ibiza's else the filter will poke into the battery
The 45 elbow would need shortening to suit how close to the wing it is desired

Thanks Bill, top service. Just got to work out how to fit the thing. Ive read about the Secondary air intake pipe, what do we do with that?
jonesy118
15-09-2010, 20:38
can either get an alloy or silicone pipe that T's off, as used for dumpvalves and plumb it back into the air intake, between the MAF and the cone filter, and I've also read you can just stick a breather filter on and cable-tie it up out the way.
something like this:
