Well, Picked up my V5 yesterday, and well impressed, drives better than I remember.

Spent about an hour working out sat/nav stereo etc.....

And the drive down to London this morning was excellent.

Sat inside here on a nice day, should be out down those country lanes...... :p

It was a demo car... only 900 miles on clock but got about £2.5k off the price......

Still driving at the moment to take piccies.. but will get round to it at the weekend.:D

Good choice of car mate. I want one also and may get one soon. Would be interested in how you get on with it over the coming weeks.

Can you tell me does the Sat Nav get info on traffic jams sent to it? The Seat brochure says it has a traffic jam avoidance system which automatically recalculates a route at the touch of a button.

Does it mean when you arrive at a jam you press the button and it sends you at different route at the next possible junction? Or does it warn you in advance (cause it has the traffic info sent to it) and take you a different way before you reach the jam?

Not that important really but I just wondered. Also does it have other useful info like car parks, service stations etc?

I have also read somewhere that you can store destinations it it. Is this true?

I have noticed that the used Seat Approved cars don't seem to sell very quickly. In your experience, are the dealers fairly willing to negotiate on the price. I have seen huge variations being asked and some look highly optimistic. I am looking to try to get one a year old but some still want £14K for these cars which seems a lot.

I hope you enjoy your V5 and I look forward to seeing the pics

I know how you feel I got mine yesyerday, (in Black) its about nine months old and everytime I press the loud pedal a nice big smile appears across my face.

Haven't tried the sat nav yet as there are so many toys to learn.

Staffuk,

I'll let you know how I get on with it over the next few weeks.

Sat-Nav, The traffic jam avoidance is all down to you knowing that the jam is ahead, either by hearing it on the radio or getting stuck behind it. There is no automatic updates to the sat/nav, like maybe Traffic Master. However saying that, it does work almost as Seat say. You have a button on the bottom right hand corner that when you press it comes up with three options (from memory, not sat in front of it at the mo !!).

Here you can choose to recalculate a short, medium or long diversion. I tried it coming out of London yesterday and it worked well. So with the press of two buttons and maybe the turn of a dial, you can recalculate a route.

Also the edition of the Sat/Nav cd I got, shows car parks, fuel stations and Train stations (think last one is correct). There is also the ability to pick up destination points from a library of known place (ie tourist attractions, Hotels, Motorway junctions etc...)

It does also allow you to store up to 10 destination points (so work and home count for two)

Although it sounds daft setting the sat/nav for home and work... it is cool to see the map moving as you go along, also the amount of miles to go and estimated arrival time. Plus it's useful for the traffic advoidance as well. You never know when you may need to take a detour.

There's a lot to it, and I'm still learning about it... but if anyone has any questions I'll see what I can find out.

I'm also looking into connecting my phone into it, and maybe a tv tuner... but I'm waiting on a couple of places getting back to me.

I got my V5 from Perry's in Aylesbury... The guy there reckons they are selling like hot cakes and maybe that's why they are reluctant in some places to move on the price. When you think of the spec of these cars, I'm not surprised. I also managed to pick up a V5 that was registered in Jan this year... so it had electric seats, the guy told me that they would not be coming as standard any more !!! - not sure if this is true.

MarkP- Your right about the sound of the engine... sounds sooo nice.

So if you see a Artic Grey (looks Silver to me) V5 flying up and down the M40 ever morning and night... it could well be me... if fact you will know it's me.. I've still got a big grin on my face..

Got mine 4 weeks ago and only done 1300 miles so still beaking it in, also in artic grey and black leather.

According to the instruction book the sat nav has TMC (traffic message channel) which is supposed to keep it updated of any traffic jams and stuff and re-route on its own. Haven't got it to work yet but still trying.

You can also store flagged destinations, so if you come across somewhere interesting you can flag it and return later.

They still fit the electric seats but without the memory and they've also stopped fitting the electric folding mirrors.

Thanks very much guys for all the really useful info. This forum is so useful. When I asked a dealer about the Sat Nav features he didn't really have a clue.

I really want one now!! The V5 is very underated I think and I can't wait to get one. I can't believe how much stuff you get with one. VW charge about £2.5k for that Sat Nav system alone!! As an all rounder I think it is fantastic value.

If you discover any other features please let me know. I would also be intested in knowing how you link the system up to a mobile. All very impressive stuff.
