Hi, has anyone had any problems with bad paintowkr on there Ibiza Cupras? I've had my car for 4 weeks, covered 1300 miles. Yesterday I noticed that in the middle of the bonnet I had some stone chips. These chips are right in to the bare metal. So I took the car to a local bodyshop and they told me that there was hardly any paint on the bonnet. Has anyone else experienced this problem? If so did your dealer fix it?

Dont talk to me about paintwork!!! I've been battling with my local SEAT dealer and SEAT uk for 7 MONTHS about the shite paint finish.

The day I picked the car up from the showroom I noticed a few chips in the bonnet, and was told not to worry, when the car comes back for it 1k check we will sort them out then. But even after a week of ownership I went back to the dealer to complian about the car being covered in swirl marks / fine scratches http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/mad.gif

I was told that they would get the area manager to come and look at it, 5 months later and after emails to SEAT in Spain and the UK head office, he turned up.

By this time the paintwork had developed fine cracks in the lacqure, and I noticed another couple this weekend!. After he looked at it he said that I would get an independant paint inspection, after another 8 weeks that happened. Whist it was having that inpection the *******s wiped the dirty bonnet with a leather to clean it, thus scratching it http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/mad.gif http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/mad.gif
When I confronted the dealer with this he said the "no way, they would never had touched it". So I made him phone the paint people, who then admited to leathering the bonnet! So phoned SEAT UK and Im waiting for the reply. http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/mad.gif http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/confused.gif

Did this make sence, have a look at my old thread "Swirl marks" http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/confused.gif

I have a stone chip on the bonnet & wing, they have not gone through to the metal, you are right there does not seem to be much paint. I have not spoken to the dealer as I suspect my dealer will charge to sort out stone chips. I am having some paint mixed by a professional bodyshop, not my Seat dealer !

My 3 year old IBIZA has quite a few missing paint spots, but I'm not complaining since the car has 216000KM on it. What really ticked me off was that before the end of the 1 yr warranty I had quite a bit of rust on the top side of the windshield. 1 yr:mad: give me a break!

My car had lovely swirly marks all over the bonnet when I got it, I didn't actually notice until I cleaned it after about a week of having the car.

They aren't very noticable at present so I haven't said anything to the dealer (been busy trying to sort out other problems with seats, doors and brakes). I am just hoping that the paint doesn't start to develop cracks in it as you have mentioned here. IF it does it will definitely be going straight back through the front doors of the dealers and I'll be living in their showroom until they get it sorted.

I can't believe how slack SEAT uk are been with your problem.. 7 months man.. that sucks.
You pay decent cash for a car then you expect to get a decent product, I would question SEAT's 'Quality Management System' if they are operating like this in terms of customer service. Someone find out if they are ISO9000 accredited, and if they are then by neglecting customer service and recitfying complaints they are infact non complying with their Quality System and it should be pointed out so.
Ask to speak to their Quality Manager and let them know that their customer service team aren't doing any customer service, they will then have to audit the system and action any problems.

I hope you get your paint work sorted fella, and if you decide to go down the 'quality' road and want any advice on the way it works let me know, I myself am a Quality Manager for a global Pharmaceutical company so have to deal with this stuff all day long.

Scoobster,

What problems are you having with your brakes? mines at the garage and they seam to think that the pumps nackered. the problem i have is when i'm going or stopped there's a knocking noise from the front of the car and a pulsing throught the pedal but with no wanring light.

The problem you have described there is a problem with the ABS. There was a mention of it by someone else on another thread somewhere. they had something replaced, one of the sensors I believe and it solved the problem.

I don't have a problem with my ABS cutting in or 'knocking' noises as such. Mine makes some strange noises when braking after moving slowly backwards, and it also Howls like a banshee when slowing down in traffic and not applying the brakes very hard.

My problem is apparently due to SEAT putting shite brake pads on the car that aren't the right compound for the brakes or the performance of the car. they glaze really easily and the amount of dust they produce causes the brakes to squeal and howl when braking at low speeds.

I am putting on some EBC Greenstuff pads on friday so I should solve that problem. For your problem it sounds like the ABS one. The pulsing is the ABS cutting in which is shouldn't do all the time, one of the sensors must be faulty. That could account for the strange sensations and the noises it is making, I hope you get it fixed soon.
My car is also in for dodgy rocking moving drivers seat for the second time, and to have the drivers door de-squeaked after having the passenger side one done a month or so ago.. It's a box of rattles and squeaks waiting to get out, hope I get it sorted soon too. By the time I get it all sorted I will have run out of warranty.. lol. Then I can mod it till my hearts content.. hehe. or I will get an Audi TT or Boxster. :D

scoobz,

I had a similar problem when i had me Arosa, the drivers seat fiasco. My car was in the dealereship about 20 times before the flippin thing was fixed, eventually, (after thretening to take them to trading standards) they replaced the seat out of one from the showroom,

It took a while but it got fixed!
