View Full Version : Can a MD Changer be added to std CD Changer System

Just wondered if it was possible somehow to add a Sony MD Changer to the standard setup in a Toledo V5 which already has a factory fitted CD Changer in the glove box.
Would like to end retaining the Seat std head unit and CD changer but also having an MD Changer in the boot.
I know Sony do some clever little boxes such as the XA-C30 but can't seem to discover what these will work with. Link below:-

or one of there agents
they do a box that will fit behind you seat (or any other oe head unit ) that will allow you to run things like sony minidisc or cd changer the usually cost about 50 notes as far as i can remember they are based south failing that any distributor you could try my local one called car electronics in nottingham 01159240666

www.connects2.co.uk do a convertor too I think.. Should be available from your local halfords....

Spoke to Connects2, apparently their box is just to add an aftermarket cd changer to a std head unit whereas I already have the cd changer and want to add an MD Changer as well.
Not really clear what they offer from their web site, looks like it does all sorts from their diagrams.

Ah sorry mate that'll teach me not to read the whole thread:( I am pretty sure the bus used in the Aura only supports one device I will have a dig and see wot I can find out though. The sony bus will support up to 100 odd devices its feckin complicated and is the bain of my life:( The XA-C30 is a complex piece of kit for wot it has to do:(
If anyone knows different I would be interested to hear about it and possibly learn a bit from ya:D

If I were to admit defeat and accept that I should rip out the Aura stuff and get a Sony Head Unit and CD Changer......
1. Would I be able to hang the a CD Changer and a MD Changer from that? I guess so if it can support 100 devices.
2. I don't suppose that little display beneath the speedo and Rev's would continue to display track and Cd info?
3. Whats the market like for Aura Head Units and CD changers, not good I suspect.
Or maybe I should hope that Soundlinx have something clever.

you would have to buy a sony source selector xa-c30 then you could plug your cd and md changer and another changer too into your sony head unit...
Phone connects 2 and ask if they do a Sony to Seat Leon Display adaptor. That will hook on the sony bus.. They do Renault and Vauxhall etc...
