I connected up my laptop on the weekend but it doesnt seem to have worked.

I plugged in all the cables
Booted up the laptop,
Switched on the ignition,
Booted up the software.

then while configuring the software e.g. port. it came up with a message saying OBD II hasnt connected properly.

I tried finding any faults, but it picked up nothing, and i know there should be at least 1 fault code. So this just make me suspect it hasnt connected properly.

So, has anyone in birmimgham or westlondon, got a VAG LEAD, that i could use, to test the port on the car actually works?

any suggestions please?

What kind of interface are you using?
Where did you buy it?

And I suppose you find eBay's tech support lacking? :-)

to grant@westec.uk - how do I do this? when you run a scan on the vag software, I try each port, but 3 fail miserably, and one says communication ok, but OBD failed, or something like that.

to Uwe@Ross-Tech, no unfortunately ebay do not supply good tech support, but I do take that risk rather than spend double the money for a cable that’s probably costs a few quid to make.

Thanks
