maximizing flow to IC?

I see a bunch of tuning companies that do something they call "maximizing flow to the intercooler" as a part of their stage II tuning in the Cupra. What exactly do they do? Cut some plastic somewhere?

I think they just replace intake pipes and stuff with bigger ones but not sure though
