I'm collecting my 2.0 TDi DSG next weekend
Apart from the usual areas - bodywork, fabrics, paperwork - is there anything peculiar to Seat or the Altea that I need to check out?
Thanks.

There shouldn't be anything that I can think of. In fact the Altea is one of the few cars I've driven home from the dealer and not found a little niggle anywhere!
Enjoy it!!! :)
What about the wind noise at speed? :D
Or the article in Which Magazine recently (see thread in this area) ? :D

I think the only answer to that is lay off the sprouts :roflmao:
Had a Leon before the Altea and I am pretty sure the wind noise is less in the Altea though tyre noise is greater on certain surfaces in the Altea due to the larger cabin I guess.
Ive racked up close to 8000 miles so far.. and I still love driving her :)
Dont think you will have any problems with yours!!

You can hear a bit of wind noise at higher speeds , but you only notice that because the rest of the package is so refined. I have to say it doesn't bother me at all. My Fiat Multipla I had before was a lot noisier, you wouldn't know whether there was wind noise or not , cause it would have been drowned out by the engine!!
Well the filler cap may drive you wild trying to open and close it but once you get the hang of it, it's OK. There is the tailgate door closing issue that a number of us have had, but you just need to wack it shut using the inside handle, not those gentle drops with other cars. The rubber seal may give. It's possible to have it adjusted, I haven't, you could do it yourself.
Other than that no niggles.... well the speakers.... going to post up my speaker project tomorrow since I've got it sorted now:) - lovely proper sound now. :roflmao:
It's a great car, comfortable, powerful and fun to drive, the 2.0 TDI DSG ofcourse;)... sure the rest are good but I didn't like the 6 speed manual and if you got the money for a DSG spend it etc....

The other problem that a few people (me included!) have is a very annoying rattle coming from the top left hand side end of the dashboard.
Otherwise, enjoy :)
I forgot my missing line of dots on the radio display... you can check that is OK and you could ask where the locking nut device for the wheels is, in the tool kit ?... I've still got to look.

If your getting one in Emocion Red, make sure you check the bumper colour from a distance, and the door handles close up. They don't put enough undercoat on them and the black shows through the paint, so they don't match the rest of the car.

Right, I'm up with the larks tomorrow to collect :sleepy:
Yep Altea-ego, mine is Emocion Red so I'll certainly check bumpers & handles, thanks.
Looks like it'll be bright & dry tomorrow, decent conditions to inspect the exterior.
Bearing in mind the dealer is 200 miles I'll be spending all the time I want checking the car out before leaving the premises!
If I'm still there an hour after handover he might start thinking he's got some travellers in for the night...
Thanks for all the tips folks.
Enjoy the car, don't forget to take your favourite CD[s] to listen to for the drive back. I took the Universal Music's sampler London Jazz Festival CD for 2002 to, too chill out to for the drive back thinking, restfull and relaxing.
If the door light is showing as a door open, wack the rear hatch shut that is what I did when I stopped to fill up [rear wash wipe doesn't work if you get that problem until the door is shut]. Enjoy the filler cap, 1/2 turn to the left [anti-clock wise] with the key holding the cap static and then unscrew the cap anti clockwise. To close screw cap, screw clockwise to click, and turn key key 1/2 turn in cap, holding the cap static.
These are the tricky bits, oh and take care not to kerb it since your sitting higher than a normal car and things at close range vanish.
That's my advise;). Enjoy :D

Thats what it was like when I picked up mine, hence I didn't notice the paint problems as they aren't as easy to see when its sunny.
