eBay? What's eBay?
I thought everyone used it!
I've been using it for years, only been ripped off once, luckily it was for £10.
If you don't trust it, don't use it.

I only started using it this year, mainly to sell, but have bought a couple of things which were fine. If you try to buy of people with lots of positive feedback then you should be okay.

Should be, have you checked out the E-bay buyer/seller protection policy? Maybe something in there to calm your nerves - you'll have to search for it though...
I was ripped off by a Power Seller, with 4500 positive feedbacks....2% were negative, and I was one of the 2%.
I only use 100% ones now.

yeah see it makes u think with comp they could have fiddled the feedback ! spose really cant trust any1 apart from u guys on here obviously!
I have bought over 100 items from Ebay & not one has ripped me off.
Make sure the seller has good feedback, email them 1st with questions (if you get no reply DO NOT BUY), and make sure you pay by PAYPAL (www.paypal.com - take 2 mins to setup). This gives you added security if you do get ripped off, i.e most of the time u will get your money back :)
If you get any email from Ebay asking for your username or password or saying youe account has been hacked etc - DO NOT REPLY OR GIVE ANY DETAILS - forward it onto spoof@ebay.com, who will confirm this for you and get it sorted out !!
If u need any advice on an item - post it in here and we'll tell u if it looks ok to buy :)
Good Luck !!!
I had trouble with a seller in germany for a bumper, the first one 'went missing' in the post  so I spammed their mail box every day until they sent me another one :)
Used ebay 300+ times mainly to buy, but have sold alot too.
Only ever ripped off once for about a fiver, I only buy from 100% pos. feedback, or check why the negatives were left
Always check postage costs too, alot of sellers now sell things dirt cheap, but postage is a fortune.... this helps them keep ebay charges down.

Cannot Remember, when I eventually got it and went to place my feedback the seller was no longer a registered user, tho I know for a fact they were trading under numerous user name all with a few negative feedbacks.
I bought a center grille from a german company. De-tuning or something. Was fine.
I have used ebay since 2000, and I have a 195+ rating, 100%, which am very proud of. I make lots of money, and buy/sell lots of stuff.
Very easy to get up and running, although ebay make money out of selling ur stuff, its still really easy to sell junk you never thought people would buy!
You have to be careful with buying, some people get "bidding fever" and pay more for it on ebay than it can be purchased in the shops for.
Example: Leon bonnet seal - £5 in dealers, or £15 on ebay!
I purchased a mobile phone for £10 brand new, sold it on ebay for £28 without a sim card, which i kept!
Be aware of bidders with some negative feedback - check their rating, find the -ve and see why they got it - sometimes it can be a misunderstanding, sometimes can show who they really are.
Never buy off anyone with less than 10 rating, its just not worth the risk.
Also, be warned of import taxes on stuff outside of the UK.
I have been stung twice... its not fair but it can/will happen.
germany should be ok tho.
All good stuff being said in this thread. I have a 60+ 100% ebay rating and I've bought three cars on ebay in the last 12 months. You can often get a better idea about a seller on ebay than you can about a car dealer in your own town!
Im quite a regular buyer of goods from Ebay, but i tend to stick to the lower value items. Always try and get recorded delivery postage cause the only time i didnt and just opted for 1st class, the item never showed up, even though the seller said he sent it. Luckily, he was a top bloke and gave me a refund, but he could of been awkward and stuck two fingers up to me.
I have heard of scams where sellers buy positive feedback, so it is a gamble. Its also true that you can get carried away in bidding, and end up paying for items which are cheaper in argooose !!!
