Quick bit of history.....

Anyone who's been on Scoobynet is likely to have heard of Mark Underwood aka the "Wax Wizard". Almost god-like status on that site.

He sells premium hand-blended pure carnauba waxes, and makes EVERYTHING you could ever want to clean and protect your car. He's now sold a load of formulas to a big name, so they'll be more widely available soon. His history includes (as I understand it) key input to the forumlation of Zymol waxes which are so highly regarded.

Unfortunately his waxes are a little too expensive for me ('cos I'm tight! ;) ), but I heard enough about his pure Carnauba wax to try a cheaper brand and I'm 100% converted.

Anyway - this is about his wheel cleaner.

I have NEVER used any of the standard wheel cleaner products as I know they contain acid to soften brake-dust build up. This has always put me off....big-time.

I'd read good comments about Mark's wheel cleaner though - both he and Zymol produce a citrus-based cleaner that is "kind" but effective.

Finally got in touch last week, and was surprised to find he wants only £7.50 (inc vat & deliv) for a 500ml bottle. Ordered.

Arrived last night.......

Now I should point out that I've been getting p1ssed off about my alloys. Car is only 6 months old, and I've tried (as hard as 2 young kids will let me) to keep them waxed.....with some success. Despite this the trailing edges of the spokes on all 4 were starting to "yellow" due to brake dust build up - I guess that surface is protected from rain spray, so crud has more opportunity to eat into the surface.

Got the wheel cleaner - "Spray or paint on, allow to soak, then rinse off". OK. Found an old 1" wide paint brush that was still soft. Sprayed wheel and then brushed in......could see sh1te coming off immediately.

Approx 5 mins per wheel - now they are GLEAMING. Real "squeaky clean" - like a Fairy Liquid advert. :) Added a coat of wax to protect them - spanky.

I reckon I used less than 50ml (i.e 75p worth) to clean all the wheels. I consider that good value!

If anyone is interested, you can contact Mark on mark.underwood@swissol.co.uk

PS ~ I aint no chemist, but before anyone points out that "citrus-based" implies citric acid.....I'm aware of this. Whilst I can stomach a glass of orange juice, I tend to pass when offered some sulphuric-ade. :)

cool, I'll have to get some

Turtle Wax now do a Carnauba wax (paste and liquid) which you can get in Halfords. Not sure if he sold to them, probably not as good as the real thing but I was impressed.

Car now had two waxings and lots of the small scratches have dissapeared, dirt runs of the car quicker and the water still beeds (correct term?) about 6 wks from my last application.

Try mark@swissol.com

Think he maybe away though this week.

On this subject, Mark sent me some of the citrus wheel & engine cleaner, its superb value as Mik points out, and worked a treat.

Got my swissol master kit yesterday, just need a window in the weather now, so that i can do my car from top to toe.

Is it really that good ?

£35 is a quite a bit for a 1-off payment.....but £35 for 5 litres = £7 per litre.

I paid £7.50 for 500ml and considered it superb value.....

I'm sure Mark will send you a small sample - if not PM or email me your address....you can borrow mine for a shot & see if you like it. :)

..not arguing with the value of the larger size, just a lot to be lumbered with if u dont like it (unlikely - it's for pampering the car after all :) )

May well take you up on that :D

PS: Anyone here use a pressure washer? If so, which one? Ta

No problem :) If you get no joy from mark give me a shout.

And if you ultimately decide to get 5litres I could send you my 500ml bottle for a fill up for say...£5 ? You could do a roaring trade here as a middleman :p

Don't use a pressure washer myself ~ good ol' bucket of luke-warm water & a sponge to ensure that I leave my carnauba wax on the paintwork :)

I use a Karcher one. It's on wheels so easily manouvered and I bought a 10m extension so it's easy to wander around the car. I usually give the car a blast over and then wash with bucket and sponge and then blast over to get soap off. It's superb especially on wheels and under arches. Definitely recomend, but beware if you've got any loose paint/rush bubbles as it will strip it if not careful ( not that I expect you have any). very good for keeping drive and patio clean aswell.

Guys...here are some results using MC2 Multiclean:

http://www.wak-tt.com/mods/waxwizard/waxwizard.htm

I no longer do 500ml bottles purely on account that I am unwilling to buy several thousand 500ml bottles in one go and then have to store them for several years....just plain uneconomic sense.

Those that have witnessed me using the MC2 dont mess around....very often they buy 25 ltrs

At the old price of £7.50 plus p&p for 500ml get a tad expensive over time and hence listening to customer requests it is now supplied only in 5 ltr and 25 ltr sizes.

However if you want 500ml then so be it......BUT you send me a 500ml bottle and I will gladly do this for you for £5 plus a bit of p&p...then when you like it you can have 5 litres.

There was some posts on a thread in the Cupra R section a while back concerning the MC2 and its effectiveness. Sadly I cant find the link.
