View Full Version : Cordy to be chipped -
This just goes to prove how good some dealerships are :
My Story -
Bought my Cordy in Jan 2000, car was advertised as being chipped, so with the prospect of having a motor that really stood out in a crowd and it being chipped, I took the plunge and bought it.
Throughout the 2 years Ive had the car Ive never suspected or thought to check the bhp on it, until a few weeks back when the car was at the Scottish Rolling Road meet at Star Performance.
I got a bloody big shock when the bhp turned out to be just over standard, 156bhp - seems the cars always been standard.
Took the print out from Star to the Seat delaership - Car Services Forfar - and they agreed it wasnt chipped as they had been told when they received from SEAT.
The result, they are gonna chip my alreasy quick beast for me, Free of charge........
Now thats a result.

funny thing is, that's the exact figure put out by mine after it was chipped!
I think a case of wonky tracking and bad rolling road control helped to thwart me though... hopefully!

I presume you'll be reconsidering whether or not to sell the beast now??
Not really sure Dave,
When I look at the car, I think damn it looks great, it turns heads and its gonna be quicker, but the Ibiza still seems a good option.
As my girlfriend would be paying half the Ibiza, it would leave me alot better off each month cash wise.
I dunno yet, Iam gonna wait til I see what the Cordy feels like after its been chipped, Ive kinda done all I wanna do with it, onto a new project I think .......
Ovv
Scotty,
I have my print out from Star, I will post it soon - the dealer is gonna take the car, not just the actual ecu down to Star, I told him I wanted a print out after the chip.
You have gas flowed heads and cams right ? That rollers u went on must have been f**ked.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
Don't sell the Cordy for an Ibiza... Trust me you'll regret it. The last couple of days I went out on the hunt for a new motor. Drove
a VW Bora 20vt ( very nice, did feel quicker than the Cordy, but cost a packet )
Ibiza Cupra R ( Nice try Seat but it's still unsafe IMO, lift off and the back end goes very light )
Leon Cupra ( now this is a different beast, good off the power, very stable, and has more oomf which means it feels MUCH quicker than the Cordy )
Deal was sealed when the dealer offered me well above book for my Cordy because it's so rare..
Pete
I dunno Pete, its a hard choice to make, I love the look of the cordy, esp since all the mods, problem is my girlfriend paid half for this year insurance, I went and changed the bodywork and she wont drive it incase she wrecks it, that means next year I will have to fork out for insurance, road tax, servicing etc myself, she wont go halfs on it......
The Leon does look good, but its out of my price range, plus I think its a bit to big,
I guess your gonna have to change your name to LeonPete now, lol:cheers:

I think there wos a thread somewhere saying the leon is now for sale at 13295 in some dealers to try n get rid of um before the kitted version comes out..

Im afraid Brendy, his mind is made up. Cordy will go for a shiney Ibiza. After Ovv drove my Cupra at the weekend that was the final straw. You will just have to adopt his "child"!!:p
