Anyone got this unit? If so, do you rate it? Need a new HU for my Leon.

Seems like a good price? Pixmania (http://www.pixmania.co.uk/uk/uk/53154/art/clarion/dxz748rmp.html)

I got mine last wednesday from Pixmania...it's fantastic!

You can choose what colour the display is so it'll match the rest of the dash perfectly, and it dims and brightens automatically so you should never get glare from it.

The reception is brilliant, even though I didn't add any type of booster and the MP3 playback is a doddle to use.

Well worth the money, and you'll not get it cheaper anywhere else...the lowest I got quoted was £300!

Cheers for that, what car did it go in and what 'extras' did you need to fit it?

And what's the sound quality like? I'm undeciided between the Clarion, an Alpine of similar price of the Pioneer 77MP.

Sorry have to disagree there m8 ive got thisd hu and it sounds great even through the stock speakers, I couldnt believethe difference when I whacked up the volume so much clarity ( the old system always sounded wooly to me) the extra bits you need you can find here (http://www.nexxia.co.uk/head_unit_fitting_kits/seat.htm) It fitted in my Leon no probs and as Leaky Turnip says it looks and sounds the dogs dangglys ;)

:cheers: Mark.

well the thing kept switching off going over bumps , and the sound was truly awful worse than stock.

since getting the alpine it`s like night and day.

Yeah it can be a little tricky at times but you won't find anything that comes close in terms of value for money!

I've got mine fitted in the current Ibiza, and the ALANA headunit that was in it before was complete and utter s :censored: e.

Alpine stuff is great too, but the Clarion will match the interior much better and you'll spend alot more £ trying to get a similar Alpine HU. :)

My 748 came today after finally getting the cash together. Putting into my Leon as soon as the fitting kit arrives from Nexxia! I have a couple of questions for you guys who have fitted yours into a Leon;

1) Did you have to change the fuses around as per the Audi/VW specifc instructions that come with the stereo?

2) With the wiring loom from Nexxia, was it just a case of obvious plug and play with the various bits or did you have to do anything special to get things working?

Thanks in advance,
The Goat.

In answer to my own questions (albeit a touch late!);

1) Nope, worked as it came

2) Only thing I had to do was manually connect the blue cable from the aerial adapter into the blue cable that came from the head unit.

I had to connect the blue cable, otherwise the radio reception was rubbish! Took me a while to work that out!!

Now I've had the HU for a while I can say I'm very happy with it.

That's actually who I bought it from in the end, although wished I hadn't.

Some little toad at Bass Junkies decided to use my credit card details for their own use!! Fortunately Smile came through and gave me a full refund. I won't be dealing with them again!!!!!
