I posted a question about this a while back, and thought I'd let you know what I bought. Avon ZV3's.
They're a lot less block-tread than the Dunlop and Michelin factory fits. I can't say that I've noticed a lot of difference in the handling (wet or dry), but they are a damned sight quieter than the Dunlops. Where speed ribs on the approach to roundabouts and the like used to induce a massive shudder (especially through the back wheels when the car was lightly loaded) I now barely notice anything more than a light pattering noise, and the roar on motorways has reduced a lot. Fuel consumption seems to be no different. They were cheap too - I got all four corners done for about £265.
The only thing I would say is that they seem to be wearing quite quickly. I used to get about 17-20k out of a pair of Dunlop fronts. The Avons LOOK to be about half worn at 7k. Watch this space I guess. Anyone elso tried different rubber for the Bammer?
