i think the only way to settle the discussions on whose chip is best is to post independant figures by people that have had chips and a power plot done .

I dont want to sound paranoid or even point the finger at anybody but there is so much competition for these conversions that figures from these businesses could have been "massaged" to appear better than the competitor. its not hard to do ( only needs a small tweak from the barometric pressure compensator and figures could vary ) the only proof being what customers have had done to their specific motas .

it would be nice to see lots of different curves posted here . then any prospective buyers could make the infomed choice themselves based on evidence presented to them. Of course you cant always tell what a car drives like from a power plot , but you gotta start somewhere

(dont want to piss anone off but i have spoken to lots of businesses who do these conversions and they all say things about the other competitors.( why theirs is best etc etc. ... my head is spinning from all this !!!)

Well $64,000 question!
Many RR results with many different figures.
Have a browse by http://www.badger-5.go-plus.net/ to see a pile of results and the variations... variations due to how the rollers were run.

Only direct comparison I have on the same RR on the same car (mine) was Oettinger vs APR. APR was the better product with more torque and earlier, longer peak power. Very smooth also.

The dyno's are posted on my website above.

I had my car on Jabbasport rollers with the Upsolut chip and then later the Jabbasport chip. The jabbasport chip gave an extra 10 BHP & 45Nm over the Upsolute chip.

The Jabba figures were with 95RON unleaded whereas the Upsolute figures were with Optimax. atmospheric pressure and temp show very similar on both dynos. If the tuners product is good why should they lie, they'll get found out in the end and loose business.

Recomendation is go to a reputable tuner than others have used and get comparible results.

At Brunty most tuned Ibizas seemed similar.

Ive given up recommending chips, cause at the end of the day they all seem to make the car quicker more reponsive with better torque.

It all depends what your after and your own priorities, i'll try and outline some of the choices.

APR offer switchable programs, so giving you the freedom to go back to standard if you need to, I use it often during the working week, when in chipped mode im just wasting fuel sat in traffic, may as well be in standard getting the optimum fuel efficiency. But at weekend's i can switch it into chipped mode with ease and its a superb remap, giving consistantly smooth power thruout the rev range. Utilises a unique adaption curve program, so the car can adapt to day to day conditions. More expensive than most, but comes with a lot of features

Jabbasport, again superb consistant power, many people have gone this route, and have been very happy indeed. Mike uses a variable boost valve, so you can turn the amount of power up and down to suit. Very good value for money and mapped for your car on the rollers at Jabba.

Oettinger/RSD a straight forward chip, no features like the others, but certainly gives a healthy boost of power, maybe not as smooth in delivery, the most attractive feature of this upgrade is the warranty, which protects you if anything was to happen to the engine due to the chip upgrade, this chip and warranty offer is unique to RSD. More expensive due to warranty

AmD like Jabba map the chip in the car, again from what ive heard on here most have been very happy with their experiences. Not bad value for money.

Upsolute, these are probably the chesapest available, and again from most peoples experiences they do what they say on the tin.

These are probably the main 4, but there are also Superchips, ABT, MTM to name a few.

This is just an overview of my experiences, but if your interested in a particular choice, seek out someone who already has had that particular upgrade done and ask them their experiences.

Im sure who or whatever your choice is you'll be happy with it.

The only bit I would add to this is be sure any "warranties" offered are worth the paper they're written on!
Customer service and support are also worthy of mentioning. Some are better than others!

Hehe LOL

Nor me.

Nuff said me thinks

Agree with your comments..
If in doubt ask other guys about their own experiences and then you will have to make your own mind up with the aspects which are most important to you.

Good luck

I can't seem to get to the RSD site

http://www.roadandsport.com

Am I using the right address? If I am it looks like someone has deleted all their web files!

Cheers,

Steve
