According to SEAT media site (media.seat.es); 1.8 20 VT Toledo is available now. They say it replaces V5...

There are also some other novelties...

Yup just reading up on that myself.

New engines:

180 hp (132 kW) Toledo 1.8 20VT

Available with a 6-speed gearbox in the Signo and Sport finishes, it replaces and improves the performance of the 170 hp V5.

150 hp 4 (110 kW) León 1.9 TDi

This is the most powerful SEAT Diesel model equipped with total traction and 6-speed gearbox. Until now it was exclusively available in the export market

New versions:

León FR (Formula Racing)

This new finish is combined with the 180 hp 1.8 20VT and 150 hp 1.9 TDi engines, on both front traction and 4 versions. It includes characteristic Cupra elements such as the bumpers, air vents, rear spoiler, door sills and 225/45 tyres on 17" rims.

(this sounds like the spec for the new MY2003 UK Leon Cupra's to me)

León "Sport Limited"

Available with a 90 hp 1.9 TDi engine and standard, body colour bumper and lower valence, foglamps, 15" alloy rims, sport seats, red-stitched leather steering wheel and gear lever cover, air conditioning, ABS, front twin airbag, side airbags, front power windows and body colour rear-view mirrors.

Interesting. Does this mean we can no longer order V5's from Uk dealers? When can we order the 20VT Toledo?

I really hope they don't go and stick spoilers all over the Toledo I really like the understated look of the current V5. However, I would quite like to be able to order a 20VT engine in one.

Does anybody have any more info on these changes?

Having driven a new Toledo V5 last week (with just 50 miles on the clock) I wouldn't want to see the V5 replaced with the 20VT. it might have more power and torque, but on the road the V5 is just as quick, if not as flexible........:(

.....and I averaged 33mpg on 45 mile drive on way home from work...;)

If the Toledo is losing the V5 engine then I think that is great loss, having driven a Toledo V5 for the last 6 month I can say the 2.3 V5 is one of the greatest engines around at the moment. It is powerfull, torquey and with a wonderfull engine none and I think suits the car. A great shame all round :(

And as my sig says....

Just to add my tuppenceworth. I've now had my V5 for 3 weeks and I think it's a great car, fantastic engine, nice gearbox, all da toys and quick enuff for most everything. I'm getting 25-29 around town and up to 40 on Mway cruising (I got that on a 350 mile drive average speed 66 mph, mostly tween 80 and 90).

I have driven a cupra 20vt and I don't in anyway regret getting the V5 instead!

 mind u the dealers (Arnie Clark) seem to be on another planet!!!

Had Toledo V5 since Christmas 2000 and couldn't agree more with the above.

Seat, please don't do it. The V5 is gorgeous. The only requirement I had for my current car was that it had five cylinders, as five pots are so nice to drive. I've made a point of having fives in my last three cars. It was a choice between a Volvo (been there, done that) or a Bora (no where near as pretty as the Toledo). I won't be back in three years for my next car unless you guys are selling fives or eights
