Nice mod but was the speed claim while being driven off a cliff? My mate has a Golf VR6 and top whack is 142 at the red line. Are you running a strange wheel/tyre size?

No strange tryes and no cliff was present in the speeds achieved. Consider the fact of power to weight ratio.
Now think of how heavy a golf VR6 weighs with all the leather interior, and all the extra mods it has.
Now think of an ibiza, originally was an CLS model, no optional extras at all, i think the total weight was around 610kg, compare that to a golf, and wella their is the extra bhp per pounds,
------------------
Whats it like in the handling department, has it been uprated in anyway to take account of all that extra weight at the front end.
Good job by the way, looks tidy http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/smile.gif
Like to see it close up some time, we often meet up at Trafford Centre for drink from time to time. http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/beer.gif
A few people come over from Merseyside etc, your more than welcome, just check out the Local Meetings forum i usually post something in there if were meeting up.

Sounds like a good meet up, would love to come to trafford centre.
You are right, lots of weight at the front, the suspension has been uprated. SPAX sports suspension all round with coil overs, attatched. Has G60 Anti-Rollbars strongest one's for the golf chassis. To stop all this has 280mm drilled disc on front and 255 on rear.

Nice, was there a lot of work required with the engine mounts or was it fairly straightforward?

Pretty straight forward, the chassis on the ibiza is near enough the same as gold mk3, so all fitments were thier. Engine bay has been strenghed to cope with the extra weight.
Handling in wet is crap, but in the dry you just have plenty of torque.

Respect, well it was only going to be a matter of time before someone did it http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/smile.gif
Nice hope you can make it to one of our track days sometime, give it a bit of a burn http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/wink.gif

Power to weight ratio's got nothing to do with it. That car hasn't got the gearing to do 155, hence the need to drive if off a cliff to go that fast. Anyway dont want an argument... you've obviously spent a lot of time on a one off which is spot on....:D
On what track did you measure that 155 mph? If measured on your speed'o, don't get fooled; it's an Ibiza speedo, so that's way above your actual speed. And which VR_6 (176/190 or 204 HP) did you mount? An 204HP Leon cupra4 hits about 146 real Mph using 6-spd, and since I guess your car would be about 215 kg lighter, I assume the car would hit 155 real mph at about 6500 RPM easily. Using the 170 Hp version that would be about 140 real mhp.
BTW: Has nothing to do with gearing, but over-reving. Is the same reason why you can easily rev up to 6500 in thirth gear, but due weight, internal-, tire-and air-friction not in six'th. When you lighten your car, you'll have more acceleration at entire rev-range, so at the old setup's maximum speed you now still accelerate and go faster until those frictions I meant before have increased enough to compensate that. Ofcourse, I don't assume a RPM limiter spoil the fun.

Ive seen this car tonight at the Wilmslow cruise, and it was nice to meet you mate. Hes a top lad and has a lot of plans for it, not sure about your top speed claims, but i can say without a doubt though that this car is quick very quick indeed and it sounds the part too.
All i can say is nice one for taking on the challenge, and you have something very unique, and i look forward to seeing it more as it progresses. especially once you kit it up as your planning.
:D
Hope to see you around soon.

Nice meeting you to. 155 mph everyone is talking about and not reckoning that it will go that quick.
Well all i can say is i have taken it to around 140mph, And the geazers that put the beast in took it too around 155mph.
As soon as i can i will be their on the track, with proper tryes that are ment to do these speeds and test it.
Meanwhile speed is not important, Torque is fornominal and it is a 1st.
I do have plans for the car.. All we can say is watch this space !
C U @ 3 Sisters - hopefully !
I am prejudiced with all kind of VR6 topics, so forgive me. I think VR6s have the best sound in the world ;)

Nice sound.... shame about the weight of the VR motor.
Front heavy little beasty. Does it dive under hard braking?
i've driven a few Mk2 Golf converted VR6's and they go like stink, but loose the plot come the corners. supercharged VR I drove was bloody quick (in a straight line), but drank at the rate of 10mpg on full chat. Gulp!
Did you say 610 Kilos? Seems way light to me... MK1 Golf Gti's were 875kgs and they are bloody light. 20VT Ibiza is just over 1100kg I believe, as a reference. (yes I know full of aircon and other electric comforts)
Nice someone has done something different.
Respect chap! :)

bill
Ive seen this beaut, it flys. serious speed! It aint the first VR6 ibiza in the world though im afraid. Some dude in holland or belguim has done it some time ago. Ive got a picture from his website. I'll forward it in here when i get time to look for it. Nice conversion.

Do you think a G60 anti roll/sway bar will fit an 2001 Ibiza 1.8T?
Found that link for you mate:

is it just me , or are most euro motors usually kitted out with some really suspect items of interior design, for instance, the red 1994 gti beezer on that site,
http://www.seatszenehessen.de/Oliver%20K.htm
tweetie pie floor mats, red gear knob, partially coloured dash facias, red centre alloys, and last but not least the decals on the sides of the motor, no offence but mr. 1994 gti owner bloke, is halfords the only auto store for hundreds of miles or what???
as for the vr6 beezer, not bad looking and plenny 'o' power but the bonnet looks a bit OTT.
Sorry folks, flame away,
:fart:
anyone know how much a g60 engine would cost, imagine they fit straight in beezas and would be serious fun too. maybe on cards if i can get one at right money.

That too would be quick indeed, watch the High Milaege G60, i would imagined they have had a good bashing.
I have changed the picture on my website, if any one interested.
funny how some comments are constructive, but others seem to be rather not constructive towards a VR6 ibiza. mmmm makes you wonder who is Jealous now !!
Anywayz thanks for the support, you people know who you are.

Yeah, be careful. A mate of mine had a Corrado G60, the supercharger pulley thingy broke after 30,000 miles causing a 3k (I think) rebuild. VW wouldn't pay for it. Supposedly it's common for them to be unreliable.
He replaced it with a VR6 and had no problems apart from it drinking oil, (not obviously burning it) and that's normal so he was told.
