Hi, i have a sony cs changer in my 2001 ibiza. It uses a converter box to allow it to plug directly into the standard head unit. The question is this: the cd changer has a standard cd changer lead as well as two phono audio outputs. Could i use these phono outputs to provide audio to an amp or is the voltage wrong?

I realise i wouldn't have radio/tape output or any volume control from the headunit.

If you plugged it straight into an amp you will get a fixed volume. The line levels are the same you would just need to adjust the gain on your amp to a level that enables you to hear it. Then unfortunatly you would be stuck at that level...

You could buy an external eq and route cables to the front and then back to the amp in the back to give you the ability to change volume...:)

Hope this helps mate

yea it did thanks. But here's another question... i wired up a set of sony 3way 6x9 speakers to the rear speakers on the head unit (disconnected the old ones of course) the problem is although they're a bit louder than the standard ones there's still absoloutly no bass from them whatsoever. Is this a limitation of the 6X9? or is it the head unit, since the front speakers seem to produce all the bass.

Got an amp comming for the 6X9s shortly ne way so should find out soon enough.

Also on the ibiza radio wiring guide on seatcupra.net homepage what are the pins labled woofer for?

Check you dont have them wired in anti phase mate!

Do you get more bass if you fade to the left or right only??? If you do all you need to do is swap the wires round on one side only! Basically as one speaker tries to compress the air in the boot to make a thud the other one is moving out by the same amount and therefore the volume of the boot does not change and therefore no boom.....

Not sure what the woofer output is.. it *might* be a line level woofer out but dont quote me on that I guess one of the beeza boys may be able to help with that one...

Hope it works:D

i've checked the phase of the speakers when i was there and it was still the same.

I've plugged the speakers into a 400watt rms home high-fi amplifier (kept the volume right down) and there was still not much bass so i guess it's the speakers.

I take it this is all with the boot lid down etc etc?

all the car doors were shut but it was only resting ontop of the shelf since i haven't got a back shelf yet. Have to get an alarm first now ne way since my bros car was broken into last night and it was parked next to mine. My nextdoor neigbours car was broken into the night b4 as well :\

Argh thats a right dogy place that cardiff mate.. My girlfriend lives in splott always gettin her windas smashed by little tossers on push bikes..:(

That would be the problem if your just lying them on top of the shelf!!! Your running them with no form of enclosure.. its got no box of any kind to try and change the volume of.. IMHO if you get them in a shelf you will hear a great improvment I ahve certainly found thei is the past!!

What alarm you going for?

You looked at the Sigma M32 alarm? had one on me last car and its quite cool in the fact it uses the factory remote for the car so you dont need an afterthought one... again just MHO....

well i work for a computer shop who also, for some reason, specialise in security systems. I should be able to get one fitted for me cheaply by them. They use GT136 alarms, not sure if its ne good but its thatcham approved at least.
