Could this cause fuses to blow as the stereo shop just plugged it into a seperate autoleads loom and popped it back in.

48 hours later and all my console lights have all gone.. :( :censored:

Did they put in a live feed from the battery to the HU? As when i did mine thats what i did. Cause it does drink a fair bit of juice.

They obviously canot read!.

I did the same thing originally and kept blowing the fuse in the fuse box!.

The stereo MUST be hard wired to the battery or a reliable 12volt feed that can handle the current!

It is a 60 watt per channel stereo and not a piece of sh1t stereo.

Tell them to sort it. I believe that it also mentions in the manual and on the yellow 12v cable coming from the stereo that it should be wired directly!!!

I raised it with them, but they said it didn't need it

Oh well time to go back to them. Either fix it or give me my money back! Bollocks :( Think this one will be a tough one to get them to do :(

Anglsea Car Stereos in Southampton.. If it ain't fixed then last time i'll go there and i'll bad mouth the company!

A few have mentioned that it's prob the rheostat

Its not too hard to do yourself if they give you a hard time. You just run a cable from the 12 + straight to the yellow wire coming from the stereo.

There is a gromet that goes through to the engine bay just behind the glove box.

Lets see how you get on first though.

I'll have a look tonight, also i've heard people running them to a panel near the stearing wheel, is that an option?

They must be talking about wiring it straight into the fuse box as next to the steering wheel on the right.

That would be the ideal solution but you will need to make sure that the 12volt feed you cut it into can handle the extra current. Not sure how you would do that 100% though. You would not want a critical wire overheating and melting... ouch expensive.

Oh well time to think about it. Getting cheesed off with the hassle, get someone else to do it and they screw it up. Think i'll put my old HU back in and throw the alpine in the bin. I don't have time to look at the car :( Even though the :censored: took my money. in a word :censored: it

Cheers for the help and pointers though

If its an 04 Model Alpine onwards they dont need the live Feed 'extra' cable installing. Alpine did away with this, and you should have a silvery box, hardwired into the back of the unit, that is then cable tied out the way somewhere in the dash.

I have an Alpine afew models up from this 9835 IIRC, and it is not hardwired, and it 4x60w and cranked hard all the time, no problems whatsoever !

Yes it does have a grey box off the back of it. I got it early in 2004. Basically tonight going to try and get it out and check connections and then reseat it properly.
