Hi,

Have recently bought a Leon (Imperial blue - crap paint!!) and am investigating how to wire up an amp etc. Casually had a look in the engine bay/passenger footwell at the weekend and couldn't find a suitable hole for the power lead.

Anybody found any great holes to to the job (Tracey/Sharon not included)? is there anything else I shoudl watch out for??

Mike

Your looking in the right plaec, but you need to look much higher.

removing the glovebox will help you to find it.

The Glovebox comes apart quite easily, open the passenger door, remove the side of the dash here, couple of screws i think, then there are some screws underneath the glove box and one or two inside.

Then the whole Glovebox should be easily removed, BUT dont yank it out, there are wires connected to it for the light and other bits and bobs, these connectors should just unplug from the glovebox unit at the rear.

Once thats out of the way, nearer to the centre of the car, and up high should be a gromit, its difficult to spot but there is one up there.

In the engine bay on the right hand side as you stand in front or the passenger side of the car, nr the airbox etc, you'll see a small access panel against the window that can be removed, 2 scews i think, this is the pollen filter.

Carefully remove the filter making a note of how it goes back together, as if you dont reassemble it correctly the passenger will have wet feet :(

Once the filter is removed, you shoul dhave access from the engine side to the same gromit which is inside the car.

Tried to be descriptive as possible, its a fiddly one, but thats the best place ive found to bring thru a good core power cable for running my Headunit and Amps.

Hope it points you in the right direction.

Zboyd,

Just wondering if you used 4 or 8AWG cable? I have 4AWG that needs to find it's way through the bulkhead as I'm powering two amps. It's probably overkill but I want to be sure I leave little to chance.

What about routing the cable from the dash to the boot? Anyone removed the sill trims yet?

Thanks

once you have gone through the bulkhead where zboyd has
told you its a simple matter of removing the trim to place the cable all the way down passenger side when you get towards boot it becomes a little more tricky
4awg will fit easily down the channels
i managed to get 0awg down with no trouble.

Thanks Genesis,

I was going to try and route the power cable down the drivers side and the phono cables down the passenger side. This was so I could avoid possible interference from relays and main ignition feed near the steering column

Is this the case with you Genesis or Zboyd?

i actually run my rca lead over the roof lining as there isnt anything up thee that it can interfere with run the power cable down passenger side and run the speaker cable up through the centre console
