View Full Version : K03 to k03s with silencer comparison
hi every1, just wondering what difference i will notice. i`m getting remapped by jabba but i`m just concerned about the big silencer lump being restrictive and/or drown out the noise of the turbo to much. :blink: :confused:
i`ve read some other threads on here and they mention cutting and shutting the k04, as the silencers are far more restrictive on those. would that amount of work be justified if i was to remove my one from the k03s?

mines got the silencer mate and its fine. whistles very nicely to!
u will prob need a better intercooler tho, as the ko3s generates alot more boost.
Speak to mike (shock_xe) @ a&m motorsport, he will tell u wot u need to kno,

i think it does effect it, but very slightly. not to noticable.
i`ve allready started my custom fmic so should be ok. do you have a samco tip? that made mine whistle loads better. what bhp is your k03s running currently then? you got n e sound clips your setup?

good good, ull defo need fmic.
not got the tip yet, that will b my next investment tho, think A&M do them for around £130-£150.
Bhp is currently at 234bhp & 266lb-ft, but i think it may be more than that... ;)
to get the above bhp, ive needed - Ko3s, FMIC, 3" down pipe, 100cell race cat, straight thru supersprint exhaust (also to be replaced with A&M's 3" exhaust system), 4bar fuel pressure regulator, Dynatwist CAI, Jabba re-map.
a few trips to Cardiff (A&M Motorsport), and 1 to peterborough(Jabba) and its all finaly done. :thumbup:
no sounds clips as yet, but will try and get u one over the weekend.
sounds good mate. i`m running a mk4 golf with only a baby k03 so can`t wait to get the k03s and the fmic on!!

jabba specialise ther re-map on wot mods u have, wher as Revo is just a generic code (plug n play) so u depending on how good ur engine is, Revo can hav very good bhp & torque gains.
Jabba's re-map is alot smoother, boost is progressive and the torque levels are high so u can feel the kick.
Not sure how revo would deal with a ko3s, but one thing for sure, is ul need to change the fuel pressure regulator, as the turbo will run lean at high boost, that why i chose jabba, they map very well, decent price to, good facilities.

K04 silencer is a bit different as its in the IC pipework and not the turbo, it goes down to 2" on the LCR where the pipework is 2.5" normally.
On the K03s our turbos with the silencers have made 230-250bhp, I doubt it will make that much diference as it doesnt affect bore size.
We can supply both silenced and unsilenced K03s turbos

thats fair enough then! Revo can`t deal with a non dbw car running a k03s (i don`t think). to run an k03s in a non dbw car then a 4bar fpr and a jabbasport custom map is needed.
oh, i can`t be arsed to cut me silencer off now. just leave the biatch on!
