View Full Version : Alana HU connection to MP3 player
I just got a 2005 Ibiza that has a Alana HU. I'd like to use the CD changer connector to connect to a PC so I can have my MP3s in the car. I am guessing that all I need to do is find the pins for the front L/R and back L/R ISO connector in the glove compartment and strip back the sound jack cable coming from the PC and connect the two. Is it as easy as that?
I prefer not to buy a commercial adapter and do it myself, if it is not too difficult.
Any suggestions?

I am slightly confused by your question.
Are you wanting to connect your pc to the HU so you can upload mp3 tracks to the HU ? If so it wont work. The HU plays mp3 CD's, as far as I am aware it does not have anything like an inbuilt hard drive to store music on. You need to burn your tracks from pc on to a CD. No need to convert from mp3 to wav, just leave them the way they are. Means you can fit many hours of music on 1 cd. Hope this helps
Hi Chris,
Sadly my Alana HU is not MP3 it's the cheap version! What I want to do is have a seperate PC in the car that plays MP3s. I'd like to connect the audio out jack of the PC to the ISO connector in the glove box of the Ibiza. And then play the audio signal through the HU when I press the CD6 button on the Alana.
The ISO connector has about 12 pins, for controling a CD changer from the HU, but instead of a CD changer I want to connect the PC audio cables to the ISO pins.
The question I have is which pins in the ISO will allow me to pass L & R stereo to the HU so it can play through the car speakers. And is it enough to just pass in the L & R steroe signals or do I need to fake a CD changer control signals with some other pins as well.
