View Full Version : Seat toledo 2.0GTi (recent purchase on a 92 K)
hi, i have purchased a seat toledo 2.0 gti - would like to know some mods for this car- its on a K plate and has done over 140K I have serviced engine, changed plugs(Bosch super 4) put slick 50 in engine, new oil and air, and fuel filters, put injector cleaning in for injecotrs and its super - running like new- there is no driveshaft rattel, or suspension problems, it has standard alloys on- ive heard about the air filter mod, should i try this. Im on limited income so any help, tips appreciated. i use car daily .
Please advise
Many thanks
problems, interior speakers front left and rear right not working, the others, well its no bass machine!!
:)
Drove one of these and the 1.8 16v Gti back when they were new in '92. They had to be one of the best handling saloon cars around at the time (fantastic full 4 wheel drifts around your favourite r/bout at silly speeds). The 1.8 did have the edge over the 8v 2.0 but it was hard to seperate them most of the time.
As far as mods go as they were Seat UK cars I drove there wasn't much chance of modifying them but you aren't going to achieve much engine wise. I think a new set of alloys and sorting the springs/shocks which must be getting tired by now on 140K will sort things out on the twisty bits.
Bye the way seem to remember the seats not giving much upper back support which caused back pain for me on long runs, is yours the same ?
Hope this helps, I think you have got yourself a good car there from what I can remember.
thanks for the reply- yes that seems to be the best thing to do- will any vw type alloy wheel fit or is there offset problems- ??
the springs/shockers can these come from another vw car ?/
reason is i have limited income-
the seats are ok, they do stabb you a bit in the back near the bottom, but my longest journey so far has been manchester and back, but i was fine no back ache!!
Thanks again
what i wanna get done is a tune for the engine - do you thinkthis is wise - as it seems rather thirsty and a bit smokey!!

Bobby,
Great choice of cars, unfortunately with that kind of milage you cannot really do much to the engine, BUT as it's based on the Mk3 2.0 8 valve (digifant) any second hand parts will fit no prob. Did you fit a performance air filter at the service or standard one?
Also an exhaust system give better looks and power but not too sure if you will need a Seat one or can use a VW vento/jetta one.
Any 4 stud vw 4*100 wheel will fit. If buying 2nd hand just make sure it's off a MK1 or 2 Golf.
(I fitted the 15*6.5 seneka racing rims of my golf cabrio no prob)
If you need any other info just let me know.
BTW mine's a 1994 1.8 GLXi with 134K
thanks- yes i will be getting a performace filter - do you now the cost of these? and is it a vw golf one i should ask for or seat - ?!!!
have you done the air box mod?
please advise if you have and what difference it made
thanks

By airbox mod I take it you mean drilling the airbox and yes I have, not really much difference on mine but makes a much sportier noise!!!. I just did the front part as it means it will let in just cold air as opposed to doing the side which lets in the warmer air from the engine.
Pannel filters are the chaepest and K&N is the most popular and a little more expensive but then you do get a l000,000 mile waranty!! Try halfords cos they should be able to order one.
Cost will be about £40.00 but ask for a toledo specific and if they dont have you could check against someones VW one. Where do you live, maybe I can arrange it.
Induction kits are more expensive and wont make that big a difference
thanks - listen i liveup north so i dont think we can meet, but on the off chance i do trek down to london we could meet up
i will go and get a pnal filter today and do the air box mod tonight!!
thanks
