This weekend I have installed my new Forge DV006 to my 20VT Beezer. The car lost huge amount of power, turbo kick was sometimes noticable around 5000! Trashed car for around 5-10 minutes but it did not get better. Put the original DV back in and it was fine again. Whats wrong?! I'm quite disappointed.

Before you would ask: all clamps & pipes were fitted properly, no leaks at all!

Just a simple question, and hopefully not a stupid one.
Did you fit the inlet and vent connections the right way round?

It can be fitted backwards and not vent a thing.
Someone on the other forum did this on their atmo valve and did'nt realise thinking the DV waste was too quiet. Once corrected it made the expected noises.

Just a thought,

OR

Can you push the piston up easily? Is it seated properly?
If you suck on the vacuum connection does the piston lift off the seat?

Good luck

Bill,

yes i think i fit it correctly. I've compared it with the stock DV and put the same way in.

The piston can't be pushed up easily, it works stronger than the stock DV. When i suck that small tit on the top, piston moves. Not sure, but maybe it's a bit harder (needs some more vacuum) to suck the piston up like with the bosch one.

Everything seem to be fine with the forge so i will give it a try today again and will probably leave it in there (even when not functioning the way i want/it should) for some days.

Will report my second attempt in the afternoon.

I've installed my Forge DV again and now i got different results. Cannot really understand what is/was going on, because i fit the valve exactly the same way - maybe my car had an odd day or the DV gods were in bad mood at the weekend, but it seems to be working OK now.

What did i do with the DV?! Nothing special! Pushed the piston up several times to check if it's stuck or not, sucked the vacuum connection to see if it's working, but nothing else at all. I haven't got a clue why did all this happen... (or maybe will be happening???)

The car seems to have more torque right after gear change, especially noticable at changing from 2nd to 3rd (couldn't try 3rd to 4th yet). Also boost (really) recovers faster when reapplying throttle. With the stock DV i got ~1 seconds until boost came back again, with the forge it is around 0.3-0.5 seconds.

By the way it did not solve any hesitation problems at all, but on the contrary, i think hesitations are more obvious with this DV now.

Another exxxxtremely interesting thing which i noticed; when giving only ~90% throttle car is pulling much harder than when i push it to the metal.

Things that make you go Hmm.

Another important bit i noticed: with the forge DV i get more low down torque (2k-3k RPM) than with the stock one. The charasteristic 20VT boost spike now feels a lot better.

I have an atmospheric DV on my GT. when comparing the gear normal gear changes the atmos does induce a bit of lag from pressing the acclerator. to combat this I had to change the way I changed gear. by pressing the accelerator slightly before when I normally would I get reduced lag.
