View Full Version : Forge DV004 Trial!
Both myself and Steve3961 played around with the above DV on Saturday and sunday with strange results!
It would seem at the moment that a NON Chipped Ibiza can run a Yellow Ring with one spacer which is the lowest strength spring!
I ran it back from Swindon to London with NO peoblems at all and so will see how it goes!
Steve ran exactly the same and was stalling all over and had his Engine Management Light come on!
I would urge anybody however nice it sounds and it did sound nice not to get one of these YET!
Cheers

What's the difference from the 006/007 then
Mmmmm actually its a Whooshy Noise!
I believe that the DV 006 and 007 are Recirculating and these are non recurculating!
And if you have a Turbo you might want to hear it? Personal preference though!
Not bad though nearly 40 people asked for a Whooshy Noise!
006 is a larger Re-circ valve that can be serviced (used mainly on Leons and golfs i think)
007P is the smaller of the 2, that seems to be unserviceable (i cant see any bolts)
I had the car out again to show Tom )Smithy) and all seems to be going well!
Saul ....... I suggest that you start with the Yellow ring and then use spacers before going to the Green or Blue!

007P top screws off for servicing, that's what I've got now, works very well.
Cheers si, will bear that in mind.
Thanks wayne, i shall look closer next time rather than just bolt it on.

What is the purpose of trying different springs?
Not the same setting as per the recirc valves?
Bill
Bill,
Apparantly the springs are compressed at different pressures and so it goes something like:
Yellow - Softest
Green
Blue
Red - Hardest
The Greeks have been running Yellow and the Americans have been running the Red one!
Apparantly each spring allows different pressure through to open and close the valve!
When we tried Green it was stalling the car and was too strong for both me and Steve because the valve was remaining open or is it closed and so you got a juddering sensation!
The Yellow was not enough by its self and so I tried the yellow with two spacers and it was shutting too quickly and now I am running Yellow with one spacer and it is opening and closing better and the picke up is better and I took it to a high speed yesterday and at low speeds in high gear ane the pick up and idling were fine!
My knowledge is useless so I hope it explains it a bit more!

It is still a piston DV I guess?
suck on the top vacuum pipe and it lifts the piston up to vent to atmo.

right, so whats recomended for what level of car i.e. is a different spring used for different bhp's???? if so what colours e.g. yellow standard, green 180, red 200???????
cheers
Bill, Yes it is piston type!
At the moment it shuts pretty quickly so you dont get the full effect but as it seems to be working at the moment with no problems I wait and hope!
Shock_XE as said earlier i the thread nothing is fully ptoven yet, these are being trialled and I would not advise you to do anything and as far as I know Forge will not sell you one until we have tested for a little longer!

Im having problems with mine, Ive tried all the different springs and all the spacers and it still won't run correctly.
It keeps going it a Basic setting and logging the same 3 faults in the fault memory of the ECU.
One is a air leak, another is boost control above regulated limit and the other is also to do with boost pressure control.
The car frequently stalls and hesitates before the ECU goes into safe mode.
The Dv004 is now off my car and my DV006 is back on with no problems.
Si,
I think yours may seem alright because when mine went into safe mode it only boosted at 7psi, your boost doesn't get above that so you won't notice.
We need to check your ECU for logged faults.
hello mate just like to say thanks for the info on the boost guage when i spoke to you on sat , and i ordered my abd guage today and my a piller pod (should be fun fitting that!!!!!!!!)
So - do you need a really stiff spring?
What about stacking a few of them on top of each other? As long as you could get them in the same gap then it could increase the spring rate required when running higher boost
the air leak is the noise I'd guess. neccersary (sp) evil I guess
Also if it's over boosting - to what does this goto? more than the seals should take? I think Mosser ran his to 21psi for a bit which I think it right on the limit.
Also (and i don't mean to question forge) but did they test this or just make it? I seem to remember them saying that they wouldn't sell stuff if it didn't work.
Forge had one running on thier own Audi TT for three months and that was chipped!
Steve will be checking mine soon for faults!

yeah but a tt running at 250+bhp is a ickle bit different to a beeza!

Same engine as Beeza. I assume the ECU is set up to run higher boost as it's a 225 and maybe the fault log/safety limit setting are different, would be worth asking about if you want this type of DV. Personally if the car goes well that's good enough for me, I know my lad would prefer a big wooooooosh on overrun/gear change to impress his mates at school, but me, who cares, I'll just blow their dads away on the way home! Stealth approach always has the advantage.
Good point Shock - so is the DV004 for VAG?
It doesn't appear on the VAG listings. But does appear on the listings for dump valves
