View Full Version : question about chip.
This week, we compared a chipped cupra (Oettinger 195 BHP) vs a standard cupra.
We done several race from 0 -> 160 KM/h. The results were always the same:
On the 1st and 2nd gear, both car has the same perfomance.
The chipped cupra will beat the standard after the 3nd gear...
I'm very surprised with this results because the chipped one is supposed to get 40 extra HP compared to the standard. So It should be able to be faster on 1st and 2nd gear to.
Have you ever noticed that ????
Maybe there is a prob with the chip :-(
Standard cupra: 156 BHP / 10 000 km
Chipped one : 195 BHP / 15 000 km (chipped since 3000 km)
Both were running with RON98
Both tank were full
Both drivers were approx the same weight.

Traction??
you only have a certain amount.
Same wheel tyre combination?
Bill
We only had traction problems in the 1st gear.
But no prob in 2nd one...
Both car had Pirelli P-zero.
Hi gmac
What I would suggest is to select a set distance somewhere suitable and let the same driver run each car in turn and check the speed, then do the same with the other driver.
Maybe that will show any dfferences in the cars.
Just a thought. :)

boost pressure. does a chipped car actually make more boost in first and second compared to a standard car. with my GT with the bleed valve set at 19psi (standard 15) I don't get any more boost in 1st gear with the bleed than I do without it. in second I get a bit more and in 3rd I get 19psi not 15psi. however in gear times have been reduced. I do pull much more in 4rd 4th and 5th. my 60ft times at crail have not improved that much with the bleed.
We will do this test next time.
Another test is to begin the race at 2000 rpm on 1st gear. So we don't have any traction problem.
Yesterday, we noticed that the chipped car had the ESP. My standard one only have the TCS.
We will try without any electronic control next time.
