View Full Version : Altea Headend and Looms...
Still no closer to getting the Sony MD Changer in my Altea.
I'm told that Audioleads don't do the loom yet. I say to Halfords it's the same as the Golf V and they say no it's not and say Audioleads say this as well.
Is there something that I don't understand and the Golf V comfort factor thing doesn't come in, I'm wrong, Halfords and Audioleads are right and that I've just got to wait for Audioleads to get round to doing the loom.
Help !. I'm getting tired of cutting CDs.
Why dont you give autoleads technical a bell?? 01420 476767 technical@autoleads.co.uk
They probably dont have a doner vehicle to do the work on thats why they have no changer interface....
Thanks will do, very helpfull since I could find them in Yell and I'd lost the web site which I now have again. Thanks to you http://www.autoleads.co.uk/contact.html on the phone number and Google.

Not sure about the main (power and speaker) connectors but the CD changer plug is certainly the same as on the latest Golf...

Yes I think it all goes in via the quadlock plug. That's the key, but looking at the wiring on those sites you still got to connect stuff up like the sound for the rear parking sensor which must go in via the connector etc. Thus you got to do something with the existing leads.
Of note is, if you Google "Quadlock" and VW or Altea there are a lot of sites in Germany selling the connectors now so it shouldn't be long, hopefully before dealers and fitters get their hands on the leads. I'm tempted by DIY but I don't want to make a pigs ear out of it.

Well I got an email from Autoleads they don't make the quadlock harness lead... they put me in touch with www.add-a-cdchanger.co.uk - ditto they hadn't heard of it. So I got a Halfords guy who does seem to know what he's about chasing up the Connects2 people. I told him that he would be able to sell any add on equipment to new VW, Seat and Skoda cars if they didn't sort this out...

Basically what happens is the harness adaptor lead is used to daisy chain the existing leads into the headend but giving you a pin out on another set of leads. Thus the rear parking sensors etc all get passed in plus the power. The other lead that goes into the headend is the ariel all else goes down the "quadlock" as it's called on this connector [received wisdom via the internet on what it's called]. The MD changer is then controlled via a box that converts the signals to a Sony Headend type of thing as I understand it.
The pin out of the quadlock is shown on a sticker on the side of the headend for any one inclined. I sort of feel that I might be getting somewhere now to get the Sony MD changer installed. Oh and my Infinity Speakers work wonderfully with lovely base sound http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=53642 otherwise I'll stick the internet pages under the Halford guys nose. This one I reckon knows what he's doing.
OK there is reams on the Altea... the quadlock and DIY connecting your CD changer all in German...

Wonder how the Halford guy's German is...
if you fancy risking the google translator you get a good idea of what they are talking about:

I had given it a go being use to the Germanic translation of AltaVista;) [where I do my sat World Music and Jazz concerts]. Think at the minute your Halfords boys, or the ones I deal with aren't up to making their own plugs and sockets. Don't think I'm up to taking the gamble with spending £300+ on the MD Changer myself and still finding I can't fit it, if I don't use Halfords.
The BMW one has the same sockets connection but uses different wiring I know that, so you can blow stuff up. The website shows the pin out, it's stuck to teh side of the headend once you pull it out. Paul of Alt54 has connected a Kenwood HD system to his. I'm just getting a bit annoyed that it's now May and I've been trying to sort it out since December 29th or 30th..... hmmm. Nobody in the UK caters for for the Quadlock socket except the Ipod people on Altea, Skoda Oct. and VW Golf Vs and Tourages, think Audi A3 as well - anything since 2004 basically from the VW group. It's the new connection and until the volumes of cars are on the road think I'm stuck to burning CDs.
