someone on ebay is selling info on how to display ecu data on the climate control screen on the altea.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=43120&item=7970220342&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW

Has anyone bought or got this info and proved it works.

I used to to the same on my audi, so the process may be similar. I guess I could try that first.

Hi Tony,

Thank you for buying the following information…………

Speedometers have a factory built-in percentage error to show a speed faster than your actual speed of travel.

The Climatronic (Climate Control) system has diagnostic codes that you can access by the pressing of certain buttons on the Climate Control console.

One of these codes shows your actual speed of travel calculated by your ECU without this built-in percentage error.

These codes are accessed by one of the two following procedures………..

_______________________________________________________________

A/- Start your car and then on your climate control panel press and hold in the recirculation button and at the same time press the upward pointing arrow button above the recirculation button.

Your climate control screen will change to a different mode displaying 1c.

Use your temperature control + button to display code 17c. This is the actual speed display feature.

Press the recirculation button again to activate the code and to display it’s reading.

Displaying your temperature reading in Fahrenheit will display your speed in mph.

Displaying your temperature reading in Centigrade will display your speed in kph.

(Some cars only display the speed in kph whether or not Fahrenheit or Centigrade is selected).

To revert your Climate Control to normal mode, simply press the Auto button or switch off the ignition.

________________________________________________________________

B/- Start your car then on your climate control panel press and hold-in Fan Down, Temperature Colder, ECON all at the same time.

Your climate control screen will change to a different mode displaying 1c.

Use the + / - temperature control buttons to scroll to the various codes.

Scroll to Code 16 (sometimes 17) for the actual speed code.

To revert your Climate Control to normal mode, simply press the Economy button or switch off the ignition.

_________________________________________________________________

To change from Centigrade to Fahrenheit or vice versa, either –

A/- Press-in the Econ and Auto buttons together to switch between degrees Centigrade and Fahrenheit.

B/- Press and hold the recirculation button. Then press the temperature up ("+") button to switch between degrees Celsius and Fahrenheit

http://www.audiworld.com/tech/int5.shtml lists many other relevant VAG code number applications, some however may differ from car model to model. All information gained from this link is free and forms no part of your purchase.

Could be wrong but I don't think this works on the Altea (didn't on my Cordoba with climate) - which temp button do we use, for we have 2!
