View Full Version : Grant Motorsport - Bill and Neil P please read
Hi All
Had a chat with Grant at the weekend and was impressed with the kit they had built - nice copper coloured Mk1 and cool red Mk2 rally car.
I was interested in asking about fuel systems and that I thought I was occasionally having fuel starvation - what did they think ? Grant asked about my car and immediately started slagging off the mods I have made and that nothing was as good as what they did.
This was very disappointing - I'm sure Bill would like to know his DTA throttle body conversion was inadequate and poor for torque (they said they were getting 180-200 ftlb from theirs).
I said I didn't think his system would fit on the Ibiza. He went on to say it would, they had done it to a race car, and I should get it done like what Neil P is having done on his car - whats this Neil ?
Basically, I am very disappointed with this attitude but I fear this is not uncommon in the tuning industry.
Cheers
Rob
not a good plan to tell a potential customer that his ideas are cr4p
Fight! fight! my money's on Bill, looks like he could be mean if he wanted to be! :D :p
It sounds like Grants from the Tim Stiles school of sales...

Those of us who know Grant know how he carries on etc... He does get a bit carried away with things and his engines are always more powerful than anybody elses.... Go figure.
On track it seems to be a different story..
I won't be drawn into whose is better or worse, but don't know how his figures can be claimed from the direct to head bodies vs DCOE bodies and manifold as he has never tried the DTH 16v bodies. Both systems work and will give almost the same power, but in simple terms the DTH will work out less expensive as you do not need to buy an additional £200 inlet manifold. I like the KISS principle (Keep It Simple Stupid) and the DTH's are as simple as a throttle system can get.
He does get a bit carried away, and his attitude towards we're the best does sometimes come across badly.
Ho hum. you must have dreamt the power figures from the dyno on your own car eh Rob? Could'nt possibly have performed like that then :D

LOL
What can I say eh?
Makes me smile.. Good ol Grant.
You need to weigh up all the alternatives and make the best choice of supply and supplier. I am very happy with the performance of our DTH 16v bodies, but can and have supplied the same equipment as Grant does (TWM Induction) to those that ask for it. You can't make people buy stuff they don't want to. If its a good product, it usually works and proves itself. Personally l let my customers say how good or bad they have found the service and products.. so far so good. (probably wish I did'nt say that now :p)

NeilP>> Just be sure of what you get is proven. You need to allow for the "G"-factor on power claims.
If you are at Combe this Saturday you can try and keep up with my little old Jetta with its system that does'nt work.. :D
All the best
Bill
you didn't put it so politely on sunday rob:D

I am still perfectly happy with my DTH setup, know what power gains I got with my car and I also like the KISS principle. The only way to test this would be to put Grant's setup on my car and test on the same rollers - this is not going to happen so any other claims are rather acedemic. If he was quicker/slower on a track this proves nothing also as he would have different tires/suspension/gearing/brakes/car weight and driver ability to me. I guess we will never know - what matters as you say is are you happy and did the conversion you bought do what the sellers said it would. Yes and yes.
Cheers

I know Grant pretty well, and this is just the way he is. His work is great (evan if he can sometimes take ages!!) but his sales manner could do with a tune up!!!!!
