I'm temporarily wiring up my amp to run high level off the Alana HU until my new Alpine HU arrives...

My amp's remote is wired into the K-switch (3 on block II I think) and seems to be powered up fine.

I've run a set of RCA cables through the car and hooked them to the amp (as I don't want to have to re-wire it once I'm running it through the pre-outs) and bought an Autoleads high level to RCA convertor. The convertor is wired into the rear speaker cables at the back of the HU, however the signal doesn't seem to be strong enough for the amp to do anything with it???

My question is : should I completely disconnect the rear speakers at the back of the HU where the convertor is connected (as the rear speakers are still firing) and also, anybody know what power the Alana fires out to the speakers?

Thanks
Steve

I got p!ssed off with it & decided just to wait for my HU to arrive and just plug & play with the pre-outs ;)

Had no answers though....although somebody had posted elsewhere about an external amp on the standard system - ie where I've tapped into the speaker cables is unamplified which may explain the problem...but I've no idea where the amp's located ....still needing help

I am going to do the same thing with my aura H/U. I've used a converter before but remember that it had it's own volume adjustments so you could have it set to some high voltages. I've seen the ones in Halfords as just pre-set where you hope it is set to sufficient volume.

My A4 had the front connections preamped to an external amplifer. Obvious answer I guess is to bridge a connection off those and you wouldn't need to get a converter in the first place.
