I was driving down a fairly new tarmac road in the docks area of belfast today with my mate in his 2.0 16v vectra behind me, god love him,he was in front of me at the lights 200 yds earlier!!, anyway, he said he near shit himself because when i went round the corner past him one of my back wheels left the ground by about 6 inches, apart from the speed i was doing (legally Guv), is it the fault of the rear dampers not keeping up?
Also has anyone used the power boost valve? if so , did it make much difference on full throttle? I have an ecotek in mine and it barely makes any difference , just wondering if it is just a big con too??
------------------
From what i've seen its quite natural for the back wheel to lift when cornering vigorously, its a result of the stiff chassis.
I've never managed to get a straight answer about the power boost valve. Aparently it just uprates the fuel pressure, giving an increase in throttle response, but no more power. They also have to be set up properly or they drink fuel.

Arse Grapes,......noone seems to know very much about these things yet a load of peoplew spent the beer tokens buying them, including me!! http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/mad.gif
Any tuning companies want to do a turbo conversion on my 2.0 16v cordoba, give me a shout, purely for research reasons of course http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/smile.gif

ohhh you don't want one of those! - aparently its been done, but isn't pleasant to drive as the 16v engine means a lot of lag - or so RPM have told me.
As for the boost valves, I think it comes down to the fact there's no quick and easy way for more power - just good old fashioned engine conversions and the like (V8 cordoba, mmmmmmmm! http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/tongue.gif

Don't think it's there anymore. In anycase it's not a turbo now. RSD were commisioned to remove the turbo and put it back to standard form. It supposedly keeps breaking engine mounts. Every Seat tuner says you can't turbo a 2.0 16v, but the VW boys do it so I recon that's a load of tosh.....

I think you may be right, I was reading an old V-dub mag last night and it has an article on Turbo technics doing conversions on golf 16v's - what's the difference?

Yeah, i've heard of a number of 16v turbo conversions, but i'm not sure exactly which engine they were/are.
Looking on Stealth Racing's site they've done a 16v turbo Golf, but it was based on the Mk2 1.8 16v engine.

Yeah some are the 1.8 but most are then bored out to 2.0 or 2.1. And there have been 2.0 turbos done. Either way on the basis of this then I can't see one good reason why it can't be done...

OOOOOk then,
which would be safer for the engine? bored out, turbo'd or supercharged??, might wait until the warranty is up though, in a year and a half!! http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/rolleyes.gif http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/rolleyes.gif

Tosh indeed.
You can Turbo a 2ltr ABF engined 16v motor. Major difference between the KR/9A and ABF 16vs is in the anciliaries..(KR is 1.8, 9A and ABF are 2ltr) ABF is electronically injected and managed. the Turbo kit off the Cordoba resides in boxes at RSD. Everything required to get it going. Exotic ECU from Europe would be my only concern. Make them an offer. The price they said to me when I asked was very good.
Stealth have done several turbo 16v's and are based on the T2 Garrett.
I am building a project car now, which will be 1.9ltr 16v turbo (T3 Garrett) with throttle bodies, cams, ported head etc etc and DTA ecu. In the new year it should be hitting the tarmac like a thing possessed hopefully. http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/eek.gif
Aiming for 270bhp from it, so it will have its traction control wired up for sure! - something better than the VAG version however http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/frown.gif Nasty system that it is.
There are guys in the USA getting 30-400bhp from their turbo 16v's so anything is possible.

a couple of words for you, insurance and economy!!!!
i still have to drive this thing for work purposes, ie im a field engineer and get paid a 310 quid monthly allowance towards my car plus 12p a mile on top, at the moment im just about averaging it on 13.5!! only get 33 miles out of a fiver,40 on a motorway steady 65!!! feel like im going backwards! http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/confused.gif
Also my insurance this past year was £1950 quid, next year it will be less than £1300 cause im 25 now, 4 years ncb and my company now owns an insurance co. too, for what im paying at moment, i could have a evo 5/6 next year!!!! still love my cordy though! http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/rolleyes.gif http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/tongue.gif http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/biggrin.gif http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/biggrin.gif http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/biggrin.gif http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/biggrin.gif http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/biggrin.gif http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/biggrin.gif .

how much did they quote you?????
dont want it that high, just bout the 200bhp mark, any more would be a waste most of the time, although i still enjoy whooping the vtec and 320 boyos!!
dont forget you also gotta keep tyres on the bloody thing!
would it have a recirculator, or dumpy, as the new ones have a nightmare if fitted with an a/m dumpy!
