Hi there, I've been lurking here for a while but I have just purchased my 2nd hand W reg Ibiza 1.6

I'm just having a tiny problem :)

The radio display always reads "TELEPHONE" and I can't switch it off, I've tried accessing the Time/Prog function (by holding it down) but that doesn't work. The manual doesn't give any useful info on it, so I'm stuck with it :(

Any one got any ideas?

As a side question are the Battery/Oil temp gauges standard on the 1.6?

Thanks in advance :D

does the car have a phone kit installed ?

In notice that when I turn on the radio without the key in the ignition I get the same thing - I have a phone kit with mutes leads though

Hi

Personally I have never installed a Mute kit, the previous owner may have done. There isn't any cables laying around.

How can I find out where a lead may be plugged in?

Also is there a Haynes manual for the '00> Ibiza ?

Thanks

probably need to pull the stereo out to see if anything is plugged into the back ?

Don't know of any other way

There may be a loom left for the phone kit and when they took it out they prob shorted telmute to gnd:(. Poke around under the ddash you may be lucky and find it!

markmck mine used to do this until I wired the phone kit to be always on:) That way my pphone didnt do that shite thing where it switches it self off if you dont take it out of the holder after taking the key out of the ignition.:D

does your radio have the loud/expert button it, if so, hold it in for a few secs til it beeps then use the volume knob to flick through the options, to edit an option, hit expert briefly again and use the knob to change it, then expert button again to set that setting and again for a few secs to exit the program. then again, maybe you have a different radio , and in that case, dont bother reading the above!!!!

If it's got anything to do with a nokia kit and an Ibiza i'm da man...(flipping heck, i had enough hassle with my own install!!!)

You need to take out the radio, look behind it and see if there is anything sitting of the back of the power din plugs...that model ibiza DID NOY use the top SEAT specific connector for phones.

I have the diagram for the pinout if neccesary.

Mail me if you need assistance...

Thanks for the extra replies :)

I've organised for it to be returned to my Marshalls Bedford dealer.

I've found that the Trip Computer doesn't work either, I had been told that there was a problem with it before I bought it but they already had another unit on the passenger seat, I guess it was never installed

Thanks again :)

they knew there was something wrong with it and didn't tell you before you bought it? Sale of goods act methinks.
