View Full Version : Electric wing mirror padle lever Broken (Part number & cost needed...)
As it says above... wife broke the paddle joystick thing clean off, and she was only trying to change the position of the mirrors a tad... She's not exactly heavy handed, as the mirrors are generally set up for her, she uses the Bammer 90% of the time....
So I have had to put a call out to a stealer for the part & cost.... So far I have heard nothing... Hmmmm does this sound familiar... (the only thing they did say was err havent had to order this part before, neva had one of these break!)
So I need a part number & cost if possible....
Okay no part number but a cost of £40 plus vat ...
Now I need to understand how to replace this switch essembly....
I guess door trim off ?? But any other Idea's guys...
From your description it's the one that's mounted by the door latch? if so then I believe the door card has to come off! you need to remove the dimpled grab section of the door handle, with that removed the trim section containing the window switches will lift out, unplug the connectors and store somewhere safe as your sure to sit/stand on it  you now have access to the three screws holding the door card in place, remove these, now you need to gently prise the door card away from the door around the edges, use a blunt paint scrapper or a putty knife, although you can get a specific tool for the job, with the card unclipped, you can gain access to the back of it and to the mirror control switch
if you need to remove the card totally the cable to the door release latch unclips
just reverse the procedure to stick it all back together, but to be on the safe side get some replacement door card clips as you are sure to break a couple!
have fun and take your time as replacement door cards are expensive :-o

Cheers dude... Thought thats what I had to do.... uMMM guess it ant going to be a 5 minute job LOL ... :roflmao:
Update - It can be done in sub 5 mins by pessing the lugs that hold the trim in place, by using a small rounded knife.. (Like you find in kids knife fork & spoon set)
Pushed in released the clips/lugs slide to next lug push release - out it comes either reverse lug depress or as I did - Angle in & clip it back in (After connecting the electircs ...)
Result :) now tell her to be gentle with the new switch! but do it nicely and just out of harms reach
