High speed cutting out????? HELP

So.... I have a 20VT Ibiza 20k miles due a service totally standard, Sometimes In 4th gear at about 120mph(5,500rpm) My car feels like its cutting out or missfireing, if I then change into fifth at about 135mph ish it does it again????? I spoke to Jabba sport cause im getting it chiped and want to solve this first, he said it sounds like fuel, eg I should try super, but its only been doing it a little while and ive always run normal unleaded. Or he said it could be water in the fuel filter cause Ive run out of fuel a few times :) (Lazy) Could it be the crap standard dump valve, Plugs? This is really anoyin cause I want to get CHIPPED!!

Perhaps u should be asking why you are doing 125 and 135mph!!! and how often would u really be doing those kind of speeds, quite rarely i think LOL. difficult to take it to Seat direct and get it checked out as maybe difficult to demonstrate the problem when it is at such a high speed......!!!

I can only push 125 out of mine maximum!! but it is only an 8v.

but it sounds like a fuel starvation like I have (except mine did it at like 80)

Fuel cleaner crap from Halfords worked a treat - as does every other tank of SUL

ive had just under 150mph out of mine on the m20 (downhill) :D I know your not ment to do those speeds and dont do em often but it shouldnt cut out should it? i just want to fix it in case it causes more problems when I get it chiped

my escort i use to own almost run out of petrol quite a few times as i did abuse the poor car, and no it did not do it alot of good at all, kicks up loads of crap in the tank and the whole engine in general which can lead to pipes being partly blocked or fuel not being pumped around fast enought to deal with the high speed, leading to the engine jerking about at high speeds!! try spraying a can or two of 10k boost into the air intake pipe, this may help as well as cleaning the fuel tank of any crap!

Or - is your airfilter blocked? at high revs you could be running a little rich due to lack of air?

Yeah definally, it could be that as its due for a service and has never been changed :)

Are you sure you're not on the rev limiter?

na, its before the red line and u can drive through it struggling, I think the rev limiter will cut the engineand hold it at the limit where this goes through the high revs. Im gunna get it service (needs air filter I think and clean the fuel system) then try again ill let you know

You say you've run out of fuel a couple of times, does this not damage the cat?

I know on a previous car i had hesitation problems due to the inside of the cat starting to fall apart....

So I just went home for lunch and thought I would chect the air filter, and blimey!!!! the amount of crap it there!!!! so I took it out and cleaned it (im not a skank its being serviced next week) and boy does it pick up so much better especially at the hight end of the revs. Maybe this was the problem?? ill test it later :D

Also when I was blowing the crap out I put tissue in the top part to stop it going back to the turbo and left it in by accident. I started the car after and it wouldnnt rev up, when I relised I left tissue in the pipe that leads to the turbo I crapped myself!!! I opened up thinking the worst (can u imagin tissue hittin the turbo) and to my relief seat put a gauze to stop large objects gettin in FFEEEWWWWW!!!!!!! :rolleyes:

so I cleaned the air fliter run redex through it, put super in it and its still doing it :( seat here I come!!!!! Well next monday anyway!!! its doing my head in cause I want it chiped and need to fix this first!!!!
