There's just not enough of us with Cordys mate.IMHO the best handling car Seat have ever made. I was the only one flying the flag at the last track day.
I'm the proud owner of a Cantabrian Blue SX 16v, and was told by one dealer that he thought there were only four in in the country in that colour....

Aye, there arnt many about at all, ive seen three altogether. one kiwi yellow with adj real aerofoil, and skirts, another kiwi yellow one where i bought mine( damn thing is badged as a 2.0 16v and its only the 1.6 8v in standard kit!! and mine, which is anthracite, black with tiny shimmers of silver through it looks brilliant in the sun http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/cool.gif !
no big mods yet as I am still looking for a kit that will still let me do my normal work without loosing a front bumper going up carpark ramps! http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/frown.gif
What i have done is added a pipercross ind kit, sounds brilliant about 4000 revs gives off a deep gruff sound all the way up. usual 40mm drop on PI springs, changed my discs and pads to ebc. greenstuff pads and drilled and grooved discs, black rally mudflaps, looks well and not tacky, keeping everything black so it all blends in well, I used to own a '96 ibiza 1.4 and had the cat wrecked by dodgey spark leads, is this still an issue with the sx's?
also, where is the owners club based? pardon my ignorance but i only came across this site last month....

Not done that much to mine to be honest. Induction kit to get that roar, ecotek valve, clear repeaters, bit of mesh in the grill. Suspension is standard ATM but rear is lowered by about 15mm due to ICE install... http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/smile.gif I'll probably have some colour coding done when I get the repairs done but I may be moving on soon so I might hold off on anything else.

okee dokiee ,
what about the megawing from richardsons? groovy or too O.T.T? i think the normal rear adjustable aerofoil('preza WRX) goes too far with the sides bit! know anyone with the megawing if so, did they have any problems with it? ie.fitting, rear view, bashing it off the rear screen when opening the boot, even trouble getting pulled over by the peelers? insurance???

Dave Athurton (Gtevo) had one of these on his Cordy before he chopped it in for a Beeza turbo...(Fool....) THe wing looks great but I think it depends on the colour of the car. Yellow and black cars look great but I've yet to see one on anything else. I considered it for mine but in Cantabrian blue I'm not sure if it would look right.
RPM use restricters on the boot so it doesn't open quite all the way which stops it going through the rear screen. Paul at RPM told me without it the struts on the boot are strong enough to push it straight through the screen!!!! http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/frown.gif

Hi,
I've got a modded cordoba sx 16v, in Kiwi - so far its had cams, polished head, engine rebuild (after cam belt snapped!) 17' alloys - its in at the moment having a new exhaust system, ecotek valve, one off front bumper,22b wing,m3 side skirts, lowered 40mm on PI springs.
I see a few cordobas down in somerset, including my parents' bengal yellow sx 16v ;>

scotty, what sort of power is yours pumping out and how much did it cost? also, how much was your 22b spoiler, any photos?

------------------

ScottyP
12-09-2001, 13:49
It was done by RPM, who reckon its putting out 175bhp - it needs the chip and an induction kit to reach its potential. I got a bit of a deal on the head and cams as the engine was apart already after the cam broke - so the labour was paid for by the warranty. I think you're looking at about 1,800GBP normally.
The 22b wing cost about 190GBP - pictures of the car will be posted friday-all things going right

Its based on a mk3 golf combat kit bumper, I'm getting it at cost as I'm doing some advertising for my mate who is doing it. I think he's going to offer a similr bumper for about 200GBP as this one went so well.
There WILL be a picture of it tomorrow.

Very Nice Indeed,
You Reckon £200 or so, will that include the lamps?? wouldnt mind one as I think most moded seats have the f2 bumper, just an idea but wonder what it would look like with the lamps sunk in by about an inch??

------------------

ScottyP
14-09-2001, 15:33
The lamps would probably extra as, would the pods for them, the bumper comes with just two vents and no lamp pods. You would need very slim lamps, as the aircon unit and bumper mounting beam sit right behind them. Speak to Stuart at SC performance and see what he thinks, probably best to mail him.

arse, thought as much!!
Going to the trackday in november, wondering what the fastest way of getting my 16v sx shifting a bit quicker would be? cams, chip etc? any one in particular which wont kill my already slightly high fuel bills, dont want to be left at the start!!!
I think I already know what the answer to this one will be!!
Suppose i could always stick a set of 13 inchers on for that dramatic start then get stuffed by the 1.4 salsa coming to the first corner!! http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/biggrin.gif http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/biggrin.gif http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/biggrin.gif http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/biggrin.gif http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/biggrin.gif
Also, is there a short shifter available for the cordoba 2.0 16v? and if so, would it smooth out the gear change any?
got my inquisitive hat on tonight!

Depends what u want and how much u want to spend. Cams give very good top end performance, but you loose some torque down the revs, and it makes the car a bit uncomfortable in traffic,a chip on its own probably wouldn't make much difference, and if you decided to go for cams later u would have to change it. I think a good induction kit and 'zorst system would do the trick. From what i've heard the track is quite tight so you won't exceed more than 80mph anyway.
On the quickshift, I spoke to Paul at RPM and he said it makes the awkward shifting on the 16v even worse - although he is looking at linkage mods to improve this.

Its the cable same as the Tdi !! ...aaarrrgggghhhhhhhh
not that bad but have made a few crunching gearchanges over the past 7 months!!!
Scotty, wondering if you know how much a zorst cat back system would cost?? what about sebring or milltek?? which is the best?, not necessarily the cheapest, though helps!!

Depends a lot on what you want, noise, build quality, style of tail pipe etc,
SJB are currently doing a supersprint cat back system for 175GBP - I had the same system on my toledo and you can't beat the build quality - very quiet however (slight growl under high revs) Alternatively RPM use a remus backbox on their demo car which sounds very nice.

im looking for a growl that will compliment the gruffy induction noise at the front, nothing really really loud but enough to scare the shit out of the wee tossers in their 1.4 corsas that sit at the lights and think they have a chance!! wanna warn them off.... sebring looking the likely lads at the moment!! http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/rolleyes.gif

Aye Aye, Its good to see some other Cordoba owners out there .
Got a Kiwi Yellow/Red paint job, with 1 ****ing maroon mirror - some **** ripped the yellah ean aff-
Have to agree Pipercross induction kit has a mean gruff to it - if you havn't already - add a samco silicone hose for an even louder gruff and listen to the airfilfter sook the air in when you vent it - sounds well mean,
Meshed the grill and nearly had a PBV but shop sold my the valve for a 8v instead of 16.
Looking to get sideskirts sprayed and F2 bumper, hopefully a singlewiper and the DI M3 lekky mirrors.
Not many Cordoba owners in Aberdeen but every time I see another Kiwi yellow Seat - there is always a nod of approval -

PBV eats petrol if you dont get it set up right - all its does is increase throttle response and over comes flats spots- saying that the ectoek valve is supposed to overcome flats spots and increase your mile to the gallon- sounds dandy at half the price.

Oh any recommendation on tyres, I was thinking Toyo Proxes or Falkens ? Any thoughts on whats the better of the two ?

While iam at it - Green stuff or Red stuff brake pads ? My Cordie is chipped and right now including induction kit at smaco hose - its running about 190 bhp -

Bill, Not sure on the chipping side of things - the car was ex demo, its only a P reg and when I got it 2 years ago, its only had 9000 on the clock - dealer did give me a print out off the rolling road test - but I lost it - should have another one soon thought - hoping to get down to Star Performance in Kirkcaldy once I get exhaust system - Cars too bloody fast as it is - maybe its time to calm down ??
Any thoughts on the tyre side of things- local shop could do my Toyo proxes for £82 including fitting -seen them on a Cupra at Crail looked the bee's knee's plus the guy said it stuck like glue.

i got yoko's A539's on front on my sx, absolutely brilliant though tread wear is a bit on the quick side as it is so soft, just couldnt get the feckers to slide going round one of my fav motorway sliproad bends!! http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/wink.gif
but now that they are just above the legal limit they are a bit wild in the wet, have had a couple of scary moments braking hard!
probably best used over the spring summer period!!
Still have the original michelin pilots on the back, fairly hardwaring but when they are on the front they spin a bit under heavy acceleration though ive done 27k so they cant be that bad!!
I am now on the lookout for different tyres to measure the yokos against, so if anyone knows of any offers on at the moment, dont be shy and post 'em! http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/biggrin.gif

Got the same rear spoiler as Scottie P http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/wink.gif

Scottie, have you thought of a quad light conversion for the full effect up front?

PS have you noticed there's an extra bit on that spoiler on the SJB site 'down below' on their TDI demo car along the boot edge - I wondered what the grooved bit was for down the back edge of the uprights........

Hmm.
Not broken my rear window, but if you set the spoiler angle at about 30 degrees it fouls the rear wings !!!

Re Tyres
I run 225 35's on 7 x17's
Pirelli p7000s.
They lasted better than the P7000 205 40s (about 20k on the front) and grip is unbelievable - I look forward to rainy days. http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/cool.gif
Trouble is they run in at about £130 per, from Micheldever tyres (who are well cheap)so about 90% more expensive http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/frown.gif
