Hello, has anyone out there chipped there Arosa TDi - if so what are the results, how much does fuel consumption drop ?

From what I've read the chip for the 1.4TDi raises power from 75 to 90. I'm sure torque must go up about 25% too which probably means 144lb/ft to 180lb/ft. Should make a big difference i would have thought.

There seem to be quite a few tuning options available. Prices range from £400 to over £600 !

I've decided to go for the TuningBox kit, gives similar power/torque as mentioned above. £440 with 12months interest free credit.

Some chips quote over 100bhp - I'm not sure how the clutch/gearbox would take this much of a power increase.

I am getting mine Superchipped this week, I suggest if you are going to get it chipped you take it to Buckingham Superchips HQ the best place to have it done. Performace should be up by 30%, extra 30BHP, 0-60 cut by 2 secs, 0-80 by 4 secs, and top speed in the region of 115-120. But the torque will be increased greatly! That puts the TDi in the same class as the 1.4 16V sports. The MPG will obviously drop depending on how much you punt the car but hey you got lots to spare compared to the 16V sports!

I still have not bought the Tuning Box - I have the direct debit form in front of me but keep putting it off, I cannot find enough information to point me in the right direction.

Let me know how the Superchip goes - I'll maybe follow your route.

Are you not bothered about your warranty, the main reason I wanted a tuning box was so I could take it off when taking it in for a service - a bit naughty I know.

Surely once they have serviced your car with the superchip, then take it for a quick test drive they will notice straight away that you have done something !

I had some fun the other day following a Punto Sporting, performance was very similar, but how I wished I had a chip fitted !

Took my car to Superchips today and had it done at HQ in Buckingham! Superchips = better than sex! My car was reading 82BHP not 75 and and boosted to 103BHP now! Torque is up from 163lbft to 202lbft. No difference to the fuel consumption though it does get better in certain situations. Forget about the tuning box take it to Superchips in Buckingham it will be the best thing for it. No need to worry about warrantly as the superchip can't be traced. After the chip is installed they run a diagnostic to make sure nothing shows up. It is not good to take the tuning box in and out of the engine anyway. Regarding test drive they shouldn't take your car for a test drive anyway, first 10,000 miles is just an oil change. But the superchip shouldn't cause any problems anyway if the car is run in. Well I am having lots fun with loads of cars now! Take it to Superchips and you won't regret it!

I have just been reading this (http://www.a2forum.net/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=1451) thread, an Audi A2 with BHP up from 75bhp to 112bhp and Torque up from 195Nm to 258Nm. Done at Impossible Performance in Kent.

Is the Arosa engine the same as in the Audi A2?

Im just trying to imagine a tdi with this power and a lupo gti suspension :rockon:

I really don't want to damper everyone happiness, but we've had quite a few peoblems with those chips over here. Seems that there using alot more boost then they should. There are alot of turbos blowing.:eek: :eek: .

If the pump on your TDi Arosa is the VP37 type used in the ibiza etc.

No way? Obviously the TDi didn't sell particulary well - I'd rather buy a used TDi than a brand new slow-as-you-like 1.4 8v 75bhp.

Still, there were rumors that they'd stopped making the Sport a few months ago though. Why oh why are SEAT so mean to the Arosa? :o

Guess not in the UK. In Portugal the engine sells like hotcakes (due to the tax on engine displacement). the 1.4tdi ibizas are selling 3:1 when compared to the 1.9tdi.

Well if you look at their August price guide it is still listed there, just not in the brochure ?

It's also on the website, so maybe the brochure was printed before they decided ?

Even my dealer said the TDi was the one to go for, but maybe he didn'trealise it isn't for sale now ?

weird, mind you the 1.4 is still fairly economical.

Although I have said it before the TDi was woefully equipped.
