Hi all..........new to the site..........nice work!!!!

I just bought a 2002 Leon (1.8 Turbo, 180HP), I´d like to get more juice out of the engine.........what mods would you recommend me???? I´ve read a few post regarding chips.........do the truly give you a 20-40 HP gain???? Is the upgrade worth it?????

Any Dyno charts or 1000m times with the chips?????

Awesome car........just want a little more juice.......

Whats the K and N part number for it?????'

Thanks......:o

Hey,

I would recommend RSD with an Oettinger chip. It is more expensive than the others BUT...it is the only one to offer a fully inclusive warantee that lasts as long as the original vehicle warantee. This way - if your dealer decides that your blown turbo is the chips fault then RSD should pick up the tab (or thereabouts loosely speaking).

For a little over a k you get around 215BHP and I cannot remember the torque (170 up to 240???). They replace the chip, the tubo-inlet pipe and the dump valve.

Anyway - the change is DRAMATIC!

AMD, SuperChips etc ARE cheaper but why risk it on a new motor!!!

If you want some unbiased technical opinions phone Tony at RSD - he will talk to you for hours and give you the in's and out's of it all...

Cheers - R>

I have to agree with Saul here, got my car (a beeza) APR'd last Friday, again not paying, and the service was second to none.

Also, the car is like a beast now! The only problem I've got is getting the power down onto the road!

LOL - this makes me smile.. Ha!
"unbiased technical opinion" - :D

I wonder why my Warranty claims are not being honoured then!
Total Bull shit. It is'nt worth the paper its written on in my experience.

APR or Jabbasport offer far better customer service and product.

No 3 year warranty like RSD'd granted, but if this warranty vapourises the moment you need to call upon it...... It is'nt worth diddly squat. The only thing keeping my faith in all of this is the fact that I bought a "210" converted car from Amethyst Seat, and THEY are honouring the warranty, but are'nt getting this support from their supplier (RSD) - Amethyst are out of pocket because of this, but are doing the right thing for the customer (ie Me)

If you want a boost spikey product, which provokes clutch slippage after only 12K miles with a large sudden rush of torque which then fades away, then carry on.

Just be careful what you get in to and make sure everything said is supported in writing.

There are better mapped products out there. Its worth looking a bit further to see whats available, so you can make you own choice. You after all will have to live with it.

I thought I had made the right choice, but events have proven me very wrong! Never again.

Good luck to you. Its a minefield of bullshit out there.

I had a go in a Upsolute chiped one and that was Puka and they dont even map the car!! Id go for Jabbasport they seem to have the best value for money and seem to have the best reputation on here. Im getting my ibiza done there when they sort out their rollin road!!

If were talking about reputations remember APR are approved by Audi of America. Its all about what your priorities are, cost, use, power.

Only you can make up your mind, contact all the main players, have a chat about your requirements, and as Bill often says make an informed decision based on your own requirements.

Theres plenty out there, producing chips, most do what they claim and more often than not leave you with a smile on your face. :)

Thought I'd add my thoughts on Leon chipping. I have just had my new car tuned by APR. The mod includes factory cruise control and selectable programs - you can toggle between standard and performance progs as you wish, and the cruise control is also a very useful bonus. Overall, I found APR to be thouroughly professional, and they really seem to know their stuff. The performance prog makes a massive difference to pulling power and acceleration - believe me! I guarantee you will grin from ear to ear when you put your foot down!! I looked at a few options for chipping, and although APR were the most expensive, they seemed the most professional to me - I guess you get what you pay for....

Is it worth it? Well this is very subjective - mine cost over £900 in total, which is a lot of money, but if you want to release the full potential of your car then you've got to go for it. Oh, just out of interest, my insurance company - Direct line - didn't even want any more money from me

I am running an upsolute chip in my Leon cupra and i must say its the best upgrade i have done!, it has loads of torque 307NM and pulls very well in 6th gear just like you had dropped it a cog and floored it!, it was definitly worth the £265 and i have now covered 72,000 miles in it ( i think i had it fitted at 35,000??)
