Ok these are the differences I have noticed between 2004 and 2005 models. I know 2006 models have now been specced, but this may show the history.
2004
Auto dimming rear view mirror
Black center on alloys.
Hard passenger seat.
net pocket on rhs in boot
2005
Manual dipping rear view mirror
Silver center on alloys.
Soft passenger seat.
new steering wheel badge.
strap pocket on rhs in boot.
Any others? Ie what extra do you get to replace the auto mirror?
That seems to be a poor trade in for the auto dipping rear view mirror which I love.

Come on!!! what about the new badge on the steering wheel.
Now how much will i get on a trade in :roflmao:

Is it pretty the badge ?.
I didnt think there ever was a 2004 spec Altea. Certainly the web site has always said 2005 spec until recently when it changed to 2006 spec.
I have never seen a sport spec Altea with a black centre on the alloys

Got my Altea in 04 but it doesnt have black centres on alloys, and evey Altea I've ever seen has net pockets both sides of the boot!
And they still list auto dimming rvm on the 05 cars!
I have a net on one side and a strap on the other. I also have auto dimming mirror so what does that make mine ?
auo dipping RVM is on the 05 cars - certainly on the ones i've sat in whilst purchasing/deciding.

Its kinda S shaped..... shiny chromey looking....... wait a moment i could have sworn I have seen it somewhere before :D

My 04 Altea has Bridgestone's and others seem to have Dunlops.
I get the impression with Seat they fit whatever premium brand they can cheap at the time.

Well I got the parcel shelf lock... don't other people have that have 17" wheels have Bridgestone's, I think so.
Once 17" people start changing to other tyres it will be interesting to hear how you find these against the Bridgestones

One thing for sure I wont be buying more Bridgestones as it is impossible to get a sensible deal on them!
I'm hoping I have got at least another 3 thousand miles before I replace mine.... then I would really like to spend no more than £100 per corner fitted and balanced.

It should be a good thread once we get to that stage of people changing their tyres.... I should be alright for a bit but I do note that I can now get wheel spin from rest which I didn't before and never in a car that I've owned. Think it's an indication of the engine loosening up at 5,000 miles and the 140BHP, I reckon. So no jabs on the pedal for me from now on, unless I realy need to move out quickly.
i should be in a good position to report on tyre wear soon - the golf (and the Altea on order) are/will be compony cars, with free tyres ! :) :) needless to say my heavy right foot, and front wheel drive 130bhp diesel has meant after only 35,000 miles the car is on its 4th set of front tyres :) LOL
These are with 15" alloys, so the 17"s on the altea may wear differntly, and the DSG/ESP on the new car may prevent such a rate of tyre wear, but i'll certainly be trying :)
That's sound interesting... when do you think you may get your first tyre change ?.

If you have done 4 sets with 15"s I am confident that you will go thru the 17"s on the Altea at a much quicker rate!!!! you are lucky to have such a understanding fleet manager.... I would expect that most would be posting your P45 :D
I do 90% motorway and I dont expect to get much more than 15k out the fronts.... whereas on my old Leon i would get 24k!!

LOL - i am the fleet manager :) - the cars are all on fully maintained lease agreements that include tyres - admittedly the lease company do tend to interrogate the tyre fitters each time i take the car in for new rubber "Did you mean to say 18,000 and not 8,000 mr Kwik-Fit employee?" as they phone up with the cars mileage to get approval for the tyres :) :)
They've tried me with Pirelli, with Dunlop - i did ask for bridgestones to be fitted once, but instead they tried new Dunlops, as the lease company have some tie in with them - either way they all get chewed up in the same mileage - and the Pirellis were poor incomparison to the original SP9000 dunlops - the new dunlops are very good - SP Sport 01's.
Best to be the man in control I feel:).

Look at the attatchments, these are the differences I'm on about with the sport wheels, I think the 2005 version makes the wheel look larger, so I'm happy.

You are quite correct altea-ego, and I see that they have moved to that same colour centre on the el cheapo plastic trims fitted to lesser models (for example the quite nice 1.6 Toledo Reference courtesy car I have parked outside!). They do look good but strangely dirty even when they are clean!

Ok, I've found another. They have finally dimmed down the high beam warning light on the dash!!!! :D
