Please can you help me !!

Im confused with all the products for chipping the cupra Im not very mechanically minded (so bear with me !).

Im looking for improved performace in my cupra. I want prgressive increase from low revs to red line rather than a spike of accelaration.

im looking at a Jabbasport chip and wonder if anyone can answer a few questions. (please !)

1. Why are Jabbasport cheaper than most chips. Other one i was looking at was APR remap ?
2. Are jabba chips detectable on services ?
3. Is a boost guage really needed, if so what is it used for (stupid question i guess !!!) ?
4. Dump valve - does it need to be replaced when chipped or is standard one ok ?
5. will the standard Cupra brakes cope with the extra power ?
6. Life expectancy - i know the engine is rated very highly. Will the standard cupra engine cope?
7. comments on jabba ?

I would rather ask here on the forum and get honest answer as i can see by reading other threads.

many thanks

Here's my take on your questions.
1. Jabbasport charge what they feel is reasonable for their time. They remap will be specific to your car unlike off the shelf chips.
2. No they are not
3. Only if you want to see the extra boost levels. They are kinda cool. :D
4. Some say yes, some say no. Jabba say no
5.Nope!
6. As before. No major change. Boost levels are still within turbo manfufacturers levels
7. Sound very experienced forced induction VAG specialists - he maps his own. He knows his stuff.

Thanks for replying Bill.

Another few questions if i may (look at first post)

1. boost guage - is the boost adjustable via guage or just for show. is it need with a jabbachip can i overboost or damage engine (hope this makes sense) ? not too sure why guage used or needed ?

reason behind this dont really want any extra add ons on show, but if needed for a safety reason will look into.

2. brakes - what do i need to do to cope with extra power ? approx how much and can jabba do this if not who can. (as you can guess im no mechanic).

many thanks

1. The boost guage is just for show, so is not required as part of chipping. It is not adjustable, just an indicator of the boost levels being produced.

2. First upgrade would be to some fast road brake pads as the standard factory ones do not cope with the extra demand too well. I use Pagid Fast Road pads personally and rate these highly. Another alternative is to upgrade the disk to a grooved type one, and again Pagid disks come well recommended. A brake upgrade to the Brembo 4-pots as used on the Ibiza Cupra-R are being looked into by several of us, as this should achieve a significant brake upgrade.

If you are in doubt for your brakes or have experienced fade already I would advise changing the pads first to FR5051 Pagids first.
