Hey up fellas,
recently ive decided to give my fmcl007p a bit of cleaning and maintenance, before i start ive been out and bought comma LM grease, will this be ok to use heat wise etc, what is the average spring lifetime also?, as ive had mine around 9 months and done around 18k, i know its got plenty of life in it yet but just so i know...
cheers

What sort of mileage would you expect from a 007 before you recomend cleaning and servicing ?

We would recommend checking every 12,000 or so miles ,carry outthe laek back test first as there is no need to service the valve if all is ok

Simply push the bottom piston up to the top of the valve either using your finger or a pen , whilst doing this cover the top small vacuum nipple .
Leaving your finger covering the vac nipple , remove the pen , the piston will slip back approx 3 - 5 mm this is normal , it should then stay held at the top by the vacuum ,remove the pen and the piston should return , carry this out a couple of time if the is no gradual leak all is fine , just pop the valve back on the car

i thought it was recommended to service the vavle every 5,000 miles or so...

also you say if the leak test works ok it doesnt need a service?

as i am wanting to service mine soon

We recommend every 12,000- 15,000 or when serviced , or when ever you feel like it , a visual inpection and the lea back test and replace

If you find its leaking back carry out the full service install

wots the difference between the 006 dv and the 007 dv and which is best for the lcr 225. Is the difference to do with boost

WeeJase
27-07-2005, 18:40
iirc the 006 is slightly smaller and doesn't have a rotating bezel on the top to take up the vaccum hose, which can be a fiddle on some motors,no difference in performance, but i would get forge to recomend a spring on a tuned motor.
oh and i think the 006 is smaller(or is it bigger?)

cordobabrendy

006 is for higher boost and performance models. 007 will be the best all rounder, bills ibiza is using it with well over 300 horsies so you can guess his isnt recircing standard boost.

just fitted the replacement parts and greased it up again, christ it was dirty in there, you can see on the insert where it wqas trqavelling more when back when the car was chipped, lol!
one question, my yellow spring is showing quite a lot of wear on the top and bottom leading edge of the spring, 1/2 way worn in fact, is this normal for around 18-19k?

oh and thanks again for the swift delivery of the maintenance kit.

WeeJase

mine was brend, you do realise that the top and bottom of the spring is flattened out?

cordobabrendy
01-08-2005, 23:18
yea mate, but there seems to be wear there too, where it contacts the top of the valve theres wear rings., ive slapped plenty of grease in there so itll be fine, was just wondering though.
