ALTEA 140Tdi TUNING BOX??

Noticed ACE's post on a RE MAP for his Altea's CDU...

ANYONE FITTED A TUNING BOX??

Am contemplating fitting one from the above... claimed to give 30+ bhp and an extta 5-6 mpg depending on driving style... THERE MILLIONS on EBAY TOO.. but WHICH ONE??

TEST DROVE a Mk 5 140 TDi GOLF this morning..with a TUNING BOX fitted and I have to say the increase in SHEER GRUNT was TRULY ADDICTIVE, and averaged 55 mpg plus, and we were not hanging about.. VERY IMPRESSED..

ANY ONE GOT ANY HOT POOP on this??

PS getting 47mpg on a run to work.. WHICH IS NOT BAD for a car weighing in at an ELEPHANTINE 2000 kg's!! Like to nudge it over 50 tho.. WAs getting over 60 from my 130 Tdi Ibiza , but that had 20,000 miles on it, and wighed only about half as much....

bladder we had this discussion on a local forum, tuning boxes wont increase mpg as its job is to supply more fuel, yes it will give extra power but because its not upping turbo pressure its not dong it as efficiently nor powerfully as a remap.

Yep agree with cordi, the mpg reading you were probably getting from MFA would be wildly optimistic as a tuning box throws the figures all to cock. I would expect the golf to be smoking somewhat more as well due to the higher fueling.

But hey you gets what you pays for and there are endless discussions about the pro's and cons of tuning boxes verses remaps so I would get reading and make your own mind up. You know what my prefered route is and I wouldn't turn back. ;)
