View Full Version : 1.820vturbo 300bhp conversion!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i have a copy of the legendary tsr 2001 catalogue and they reckon that they can get the 1.8 turbo up to this power level.what is involved is roughly this:rebored to 2ltr,different crank, different turbo/manifold/and judging by the pictures increased inlet/outlet and head gasket and a shed load of samco hoses .they say that the conversion is so new that they haven't fully evaluated it yet but will be at home in ANY 1.8 20v turbo .now i don't own a 20v turbo but if i did theres no way in the world i'd want a 300bhp ibiza ,the rally cars only produced 270 and they were tuned to f**ck and had the suspension brakes etc to handle that sort of power.if anyone wants more info drop me a line and i'll e mail it to ya.

The 1.8T engine is one of the most tuneable engines on the market today.
As you all know it is used in nearly all of VAGS car range:
Ibiza
Leon
Passat
Audi A4
Audi A3
TT
It comes in all forms of power, but i believe that as standard when the engine was first built it produced around 200BHP (the ECU in the ibiza cupra winds the power back)
The engine can be taken to around 400BHP in race spec, but needs rebuilding after every "session"
As Jason says, 300BHP would simply not work in a car as small as the Ibiza, completely undriveable.
I have been told that the most the Ibiza can realistically handle and be driveable is 230-240 BHP, and thats with £2K's worth of Electronic goodies to keep it all in check.
All reputable SEAT Tuners can offer these upgrades as i'm sure you are all aware.
Theres my input anyhoo

I test drove a 210 bhp Ibiza yesterday. I'd say it was getting towards the the limits of the standard car in my unprofessional opinion. It had got uprated brakes but the suspension was standard.

How much do your cars weigh?
If it's the same 1.8 as in the quatro then it can handle a stage 8 turbo with the right tuning.... The block could take a mortar shell at point blank and come out shining.
Now I know virtually nothing about the cars, but they could definetely take it, but if it's your daily driver I'd not reccomend it.
I don't know how big drag racing is in Europe, but the strip is about the only place where such an overpowered beast would be at home....
Ok there's a shitload I want to know about these cars, I'm very intrigued, especially because of the engine that's in it.
Is there anyone here who's a bit of an author, I'd like some questions answered. :)
Weight?
Wheel Base?
Front or Rear Drive?
Turbo Type?
Volkswagon parts?
What country are they produced in?
When were they first released, and how many generations are there?
Base Price?
Basically everything. :)

This one is setup for Flapper and Zboyd I think. They should post a reply when they come out of the pub :)
