okay - managed to work out that the phonebook on the 6230 simply will not load/copy into the Altea's brain.

I moved the sim into a 6310i and the car saw the phone book and copied it over (about 200 names)

put the sim back into the 6230 thinking the car would be foolish enough not to check the phone book, and use its now internal cached copy, but the clever little sod goes off to re-synch :(

when i was using the 6310i i found scrolling through 200 names a real ball-ache using the trip computer up down rocker, so have decided that access to the phonebook isn't a high priority anymore, as you can voice store your most useful numbers into the Alteas brain.

......cue the episode of Top Gear where Clarkson is sat all night long in his Merc shouting at the dash trying to get the softly spoken female to store his numbers ! :)....... yes the same lady is present in the seat system it appears.

it must be my thick northern tones, as inputting numbers is a long process, with lots of "pardon", "function not possible" etc coming from the voice in the car. :)

I have got a few names stored, but am having a massive problem storing the number 4. Each time i say it the car thinks i've said "store" and goes off to record the half completed number, you can either speak a number at a time, with the car repeating back what you've stored, or go for a batch of numbers "845" for example, but this confuses the poor lady.

Has anyone got an idea of how to say FOUR and make it not sound like STORE ? :)

Why not retrain it so that for the "STORE" function you say "SAVE" instead or am I thinking too simple.

it only works with Store i'm afraid, but i like your way of thinking :)
