few spannerheads in here may know the answer to this one,
im thinking of getting bigger/better brakes as ive found that the standard 280mm variety on my cordy just dont stop quick enough, what other setups can be borrowed from other VAG models that would do the job for me?
dunno about 4 pots as your talking a fair whack of mullah!!
brembo 4 pots from a beeza cupra R :D
should fit on with the right size and offset wheel and not as much as u think ;)

Only thing to mention, but you should be Ok reading your signature is 16" wheels are the minimum size to run with the Brembo 305x28 4-pot conversion.

As an aside, the multispoke 16v 16's have a bit more clearance inside than Ibiza 20vT 16's. I acquired the 20vT wheels on my 8v when someone found out that an AP 4 pot conversion (which fits inside a set of multispokes) won't quite fit inside the 20vT wheels...

so what are we talking here, about 3-400 quid?? if so, is it only a case of taking the old setup off and fitting the new, or do i need some work done to hubs, rest of remaining system?

Somewhere between 400-550 I think - guessing at this time.
Bolts on - all being well.

I've followed a couple of threads on this subject now... and it all boils down to one thing... "When the parts come in"! Any idea when these parts will become available?
Also, what would happen if I had a Cupra R and something went wrong with say the caliper.... would the car be off road for months whilst I wait for the part to come in?
Why are Seat so slow with parts at the moment? I understand that the main parts warehouse moved but now the delays are getting ridiculous!
Anyway, let us know if/when the parts come in.
Cheers

In a word - YES, you would be stuffed on off the road until they came in!

1.) So will they fit on serial ibiza cupra (not cupra R) wheels or not.
2.) I guess that means also 16' wheels for the winter tires....
3.) are they really that good in compare to some others non serial one.
I own Ibiza Cupra 20VT

The UK end of things is one thing, but the Spaniards are dragging their feet also. I've just spent the last month and a bit with a car I can't leave parked up outside my house because some c*nt decided he'd have a go at breaking in, resulting in a mangled door lock that could be opened with a screwdriver. Hence my car has been spending most of it's time parked in the lockup at work and i've been getting lots of exercise...
At least with a Cupra R, if you had a caliper go iffy on you it would make the car unroadworthy and you'd qualify for a courtesy car. Me? I qualified for precisely jack sh*t. Thank you Seat "Customer Service"...

just an idea m8, how about a handle with no lock, that's what i done after mine got broken into, compleatly screws em up when they cant find the lock :D
if ur lock barrell has been special ordered IE from the key room it'll take a while but no1 knows why :(

Not wishing to start an argument or nowt but is there more than one way a dealer can source parts? got a mate who has just done the cupra R brake conversion to his corrado and he got the parts ( caliper, discs etc ) within a week! cant remember if hew went to a Seat or VW dealer though. Seems odd though. Im on the south coast if that makes any difference.

Its the same guy that fitted my coilovers for me last night. I will give him a shout tonight and find out which dealership he went through in the end. Funny enough he reckognised your name when i mentioned it last night bill! :) Said he had heard it around when hes been looking into throttle bodies! Just need to persuade him to swap cars with me when hes finished! Will be nice corrado g60, bored out with custom internal pushing out about 340bhp! hence the need for better brakes! damn i need more power in my little 8v! :(

I thought about that previously - but a quick call to Seat dealers turned up none of the correct rear handles in stock and apparently also none at VAG UK central spares depot. I'm told that the earlier handles (pre-laser cut keys) have a subtly different mechanism and you have to change basically the entire assembly to make it work. Hence the decision to sit it out and wait for the replacement lock...

use a passanger side handle from a cupra (no lock in that) :)
i might even have 1 in stock if u really want 1 :)

My Ibiza is a mk2, not sure if the handles the same as a mk3? And being an 8v, they aren't painted either... The lock turned up in the end anyway, but thanks for the thought.

I would be very interested to know how and where he got the bits though, if you are able to get that info for me?

What happens about ABS when you get a brake conversion? Does ABS still work on the new brakes or is it disabled?
Cheers
Ben
i cant c why not, it's not attached 2 the caliper in anyway it works of a separate speed sensor, so should just b a matter of replacing brake parts and it should still work. i could b wrong but i know there's a few peeps out there running bigger brakes and still got abs.
:)

well, depends on the car. I once had to disable the abs on a Fiesta Rst when I fitted 330mm discs and willwood 4pots and it screwed with the abs, nockd out the abs drive pump belts on the gearbox and it cured the problem.

Fitting the R brakes won't effect the ABS system components at all. Whether you want to run ABS or not though, particularly on track is another thing.
Until I actually get mine fitted to the car I cannot comment first hand, but nothing will effect the ABS parts physically, regarding the caliper and disk replacement.
