HI Folks
I'm on the scrounge again can I get someone to send me a copy of the audio/satellite navigation manual for the unit supplied with the V5. I'm getting no joy from SEAT (doesn't come with one sorry, its just a 1 page supplement with the standard audio manual) , VW (Can't order a manual it only comes with a new system)or AUDI so far although the Audi guy said he'd try! Blaupunkt say the y don't have manuals for sale on OEM equipment)
I'll be receiving a 2002 standard disk with the full Michelin Travel Guide in August though.
If I can get a borrow of an original I'll scan it and produce an acrobat document for downloads before returning it!
Hi PurpleFlash,
The Sat Nav unit in my V5 has to be replaced. It has not worked since I took delivery of the car 4 weeks ago. I have tried 3 different disks & it still does not work. The unit is now been replaced at a cost of £3000 to Seat UK.
My dealer sourced the car from a dealer called Cheshunt and I believe that they swopped the unit for a faulty one. I think this because the unit does not fit properly and there are scratches around the trim as if somebody has removed the unit. Apparently this is a common occurence with some dealers.
When the new unit arrives (probably 6 months knowing Seat) it may have another manual. If so, I will have a spare and I can send it too you.
Although...... The manual is pretty crap anyway

Hi Ginge and thanx
Despite SEAT's ability to F*** things up (losing all the manuals for a demonstrator as well as the disk hence my pleas, I don't even know what all the knobs on the radio bit are for!) Thanks to various members of the forum I can work it (just) Persevere, the sat nav unit is great even though I have the older version (non DX) very accurate and very cool, bye bye atlases. As I say I will have the NON SEAT suplied Michelin guide version of the NON DX software for 2002 when it's released in Aug mail me for a look see!:D
My V5 is to have a new Sat Nav System fitted shortly to replace a faulty unit. My car is a Y reg and was registered in July 2001.
What is the difference between the DX and non DX systems and how do I know which I have got? Does anybody know when they were changed over?
Also, If I have a Non DX system does the replacement unit need to be the same or will I get a better DX unit?
Thanks for your help.

:D
Standard System and DX system look very similar I'm told the difference is in the way the software and map registration work (DX is supposedly better and will support pre-emptive traffic jam re-routing when the UK gets around to using the appropriate system)
To tell whihc version you have open up the CD on a PC and read the INFO.TXT file using notebook you will find a line that says the following
Project-Name: TAN Great Britain 2001
If it is a standard it will look like that if it is a DX it will have DX at the end of that line.
PS DX software will not work in a standard system and vice versa!
The software is due to be updated very shortly to a 2002 version byt the company that does this called teleatlas on
www.teleatlas.com (http://www.teleatlas.com)
Good luck!!
Thanks Mate. I am going to go and get the disk out of the car and try. If it is a non DX system does this mean you can't get update discs for it or do you just need to make sure you get the right ones?

They are doing update disks for both systems NON DX 2002 will be out August which is the one I'm going to go for. DX is out now or imminent I think - remember there are 2 standards as well - Basic which is guidance only with a few extras and Enhanced which has a Michelin Travel Guide included - costs seem to be ca £80-90 for a basic disk (both types) and £110 ish for a Travel Huide one. The hardware is travelpilot by Blaupunkt if you're looking for it on their web site!
Thanks Purpleflash.
I have checked my current 2001 Disc and it is a Non DX disc. I guess that means that I have a non DX unit otherwise it wouldn't work.
Do you know if DX and Non DX is the same thing as Dynamic and Non dynamic? Does DX stand for dynamic?
The dealer says that if it is a dynamic system it will say so on the front of the unit. Mine doesn't say this which would seem to fit with the disc.
The new unit the dealer has for me is a dynamic system with a new dynamic disc. Will this work in my car without any problems?
Sorry for so many questions!

Should work fine in your system
The differences apparently are in the unit not the externals. I think that DX does mean Dynamic and that it allows for traffic notification (if it's available) to automatically inform you and calculate an alternative route. Also the DX system claims to hold addressing/positional/map info for every street in UK no matter how small! whereas the standard doesn't quite!
:D
Great! I can't wait now to get it fitted now. The V5 really is a good car.
I feel for all those poor old Leon drivers who have lost the folding mirrors, have no computer or memory seats. We have the lot plus Sat Nav and cruise too!!
But we do have to "put up" with that horrible V5 engine. Hang on though thats rather sweet too.:) Makes me smile every time I start it up. Such a lovely noise.
