I want to remove the catalytic converter on a 2001 Ibiza 20VT.

The problem is if I remove the sensor on it, I will get an anoying engine fautl. This doent really affect performance appart from the fact that the ligh is on the dashboard which is anoying.

Is there any way to fool the ECU in believing the Cat is still there? Maybe like connecting some kind of resistance in place of the sensor?

I am in Venezuela and there is no law here against removing the Catalytic Converter.

Leave the lambda in place. The engine does use it to closed loop control fueling and A/F ratio. It can work without a cat, but it needs to be mounted in a similar place (ie hot near the collector)

Yes, DO NOT RUN your car without the lambda probe. If you can, get the probe out of the cat and mount it on the replacement pipe. Better, go and let professionals do that as the probe has to be positioned in a specified direction.
