for a brake fluid change, how much do u need? I got some of that motul RBF fluid, but upon arrival one of the bottles leaked (500ml) and i dont know how much of it I managed to save.
I originally ordered 1l... think i might have 750ml left?
If i need more might grab some more from ya.
EDIT: my first batch didnt come from you.... just to clear that one up....

I have used 2ltrs previously for a full bleed personally, with an extra 1/2 for top ups and bleeding fronts after track use.

LOL.. I know. only just set up my account. :)
Good fluid and bled frequently is my next best attempt to stop my brakes from boiling.

I got in:
RBF600 Brake Fluid: £5.99+vat/500ml (case 12)
300v Motorsport Competition 15W50: £33.63/4ltr
Octane Fuel Blaster-500ml bottles
Going to try and arrange an oil test of the 300v 15w50 as Motul claim a 2-3% power increase from using their oils which should be 10bhp on my motor.
100% sheer stable and beyond std industry specs, is what I am after, given the abuse it has to put up with. Stable oil pressures no matter what temps... Gotta be a good thing. We know other lesser oils loose pressure when hot. These should'nt. - worth a giggle to see if the power claim is valid tho.
hehehe, not going down the "ups your bhp route again"
im after some oil for my service and was looking at the 8100, but i think thats a fully synthetic, i dont think i need competition oil (he says)

I would say ALL 1.8T's should be running fully synthetic.. oil temps and pressures are immense especially when chipped. 100% sheer stable. No other oil (inc Mobil1) can claim this. Only Ester based oils like the Motul.
Would be funny if it "did" add power thos would'nt it, whilst lubricating efficiently. I will run this test for a laugh, you never know.
Plenty of grades to choose from. :)
what would you recommend then bill?

I bought the competition stuff in on the grounds its going to live with my motor, hot oil etc.. 15W50
I'll drop you a seperate line on it m8... cheaper than Mobil one for a higher quality

Motul 300V
8100 E-Tech lite 0W30
8100 Ester E-Tech 0W-40
8100 Eco-nergy 5W30
8100 X-cess 5W40
Which one did you use?
i used the 8100 Ester E-tech 0w-40.
same as Yumann i think.
was the one i was recommended.

Single Ester formulation.
0W40 E-Tech, which meets VW502.00.505.00.503.01 spec
0 is a very low end viscosity tho, which is mighty thin. I know Mobil 1 0W50 I have used before did'nt suit the 16v/20v engine as it allowed the tappets to drain down to easily. (tick tick on cold start sometimes)
I am going to run the 300V Double Ester range in a slightly heavier weight oil to see how that fares. 15w50
May I ask how much it cost you for the E-Tech 0W40?

Post #10 is the one to read really, and he is the guy that recommended me the oil and supplied me the oil too - Opie Oils.
IIRC, i bought 5L of the oil and paid just on £30 for it. Cant remember tho, this could be wrong.

Thats the one! I payed £28 for one 5l bottle.

I was under the impression that the 300v oils suffer from fuel dilution which equals more oil changes? Or else i would of used it for me car.

Was told the same thing here.

I doubt it.
some serious fueling issues in your motor if so.
This oil exceeds the current standards.
Attach 3 litres of that brake fluid to my order please Bill :)
I over heated the 280s on the Cordy after a playing with Focus ST170.
Pedal sank right to the floor with no stopping power :drive2:

Green coloured retangular shaped thingybob? Top man.
Yeah very Scarey! Its running stock pads and discs and I doubt the fluid in is any better than DOT4. very surprised how quickly they faded.

I have just bled mine today and used just over 1.5ltrs.. so broke into the 4t bottle. Allow 4 x 0.5ltr bottles and have some spare for a full bleed I think. Should'nt need any more than that.
4 x 0.5 ltr @ £5.99 = £23.96
less 10% = £21.56
plus vat = £25.34
plus carriage = £34.84 to your door.

not sure without seeing one.. rears on mk3 ibiza's were crimped to solid lines so braided hoses only possible on fronts.. not sure if mk4's are the same tho.

Update on the RBF600 brake fluid..
No brake boiling since I used this stuff. Also added brake ducting so changed 2 things at once but the pedal remains firm and trustworthy now, even with the Nurburgring use and 155mph to 0 stop at the end of the lap. Pedal remained fine.
Great stuff and a lot less than Castrol's SRF which is the only one which lists dry boiling temp 5'C higher. 1/4 of the price of SRF but superb results on mine. Top stuff.
Yeah like 90% cheaper than Castrol SRF!!!
I've already got the SRF now, but next time I'll try the RBF600.
I don't suppose you took any piccys of your ducting did you? Autotechniks and I are going to try and come up with something on Monday but I've had a look underneath and due to lack of room I dont really know what we can do!
As per my PM, I'm interested in the 15W50 oil. I presume you're confident that the oil pump wont struggle with the increased viscosity?
Cheers

It is'nt thicker Ben... its same as Gold Synta pouring it, but it is 100% sheer stable which Synta wont be. No probs on mine.
Another really old thread!
Bill, in another thread you said you now have Motul RBF660. How much do you sell this for (Inc SCN discount, if any)?
Thanks
