View Full Version : Headunit wierdness

I just transfered and fitted a Pioneer DEH-2030R headunit from my old car to my pre '99 Ibiza, only took 2 mins as original headunit is standard size. But, after a few times turning the ignition on and off I noticed it seems to forget all my settings etc. I know this isnt a major problem, but it gets annoying when you have to re-adjust the volume, bass, treble, stored radio stations, cd position etc etc..EVERY time you start the car.

In my old car, if you turned the ignition off and on again it would remember where it was. I tried turning the key from off to on very rapidly, and it remembered then..but waiting over a second it forgets it all. I suspect the power from battery to headunit is cut when the car is off, and this is necessary for the headunits memory? And yet, the standard head unit was fully operational with the car off.

Any ideas on this??

Cheers!
Greg

On ISO Connector change yellow and red wires. That'll do the trick!

Yellow - Red
Red - Yellow

It's the same for all VAG vehicles.....I had the same situation when my girlfriend transfered from Alfa 33 to VW Golf 3 Variant

I fully agree.
Swap the red and yellow wires.

You may find that the wireing loom for your Pioneer actually has bullett connectors in these 2 wires to allow easy swapping.

The red and yellow are the live wires. one is switched (via the ignition) and the other it the perminent live (for memory).
