Hi there,

I own a 2001 1.6 Leon (1598 cc, new model), and I'm looking for some extra fun, so I took a look at the local chip suppliers and I found two options:

Giwasa and Upsolute

The first one is sold and fitted by an established dealer, costs about 500 EUR, and promisses 15 bhp and 15% torque increases.

The second is sold and fitted by the JUST established first Upsolute dealer in Portugal, costs 365 EUR and promisses 10bhp and 15nm increases (Upsolute Customer & Sales Dpt information).

I'm looking for better (faster) throttle response in low rev, and a little bit better "breathing" in high rev (>5000rpm). Passing by 5500rpm the engine seems to be choking. This is nothing like the Rover 1400 K series 103bhp I used to drive - this one reved happily until the red line.

Does any of you guys have any interesting ideias on the subject? If you do, please share.
Thanks a lot

Cheers

PS: You guys get all the fun...buying 180bhp for the same price as other people buy 105bhp, winning Argentina, having a Royal family...not fair! :-)

Never heard of Giwasa (!?) I'd recomend the Upsolute, only as I've never heard of the other one... It does seem as if we have it better here then because for about the same money we can get around 40bhp more (model dependant). Why not plan a roadtrip to the UK...?

From what I've seen on the internet, an atmospheric 1.6 engine usually doesn't get much better than this (extra 10 to 15 bhp) without major changes.

Road trip to England...does me driving on the left makes time go backwards and Portugal having another shot at Korea?! :-)

Thanks for your comments though
Take care

Yeah, like I said it's very much model dependant for the BHP. If you are after a lot more power, it will make more sense to trade it in for a 20VT Leon/Beeza. They are very tune-worthy and there are guys on here running an extra 40-50BHP on these models. I know what you mean about the driving - I just came back from two weeks in the US and I got caught out quite often turning the wrong way into streets etc - frightening!
Sorry mate - Portugal is out and thats it!! My money is on Brazil but it seems like all the underated countries are doing well this World Cup so it might be Iceland or Outer Mongolia somewhere like that!
