View Full Version : Dump Valves
Hi, I wonder if any of you might be able to help me?
I have on order a yellow Ibiza Cupra which I am due to get in late September early October. I want to put a dump valve on my car but I haven’t a clue what their purpose is, if they use fuel or not, how they work and what the purpose of the so-called ‘whoosh’ noise is about?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Cheers
John

So why all the questions? Get the car first!
My 20.V T feels just great with the original equipment and I do not feel any urge to change anything!

just get a forge DV006, you won't be waiting for the OEM part to fail and you will find your engine will hold boost on upshift, do not get a vent to atmosphere Dump valve-
1. you will make your ECU throw up all sorts of error codes
2. you will sound like a max power muppet!!!

John,
There is already a dump valve fitted to the car. It's not very good quality and they're prone to failure.
I've had the Forge DV006 fitted to mine. It's a recirculating one (so you don't get a woosh and sound like you've got air brakes) and helps with the general drive/useability. In my experience it holds the boost much better whilst shifting up so the power delivery is smoother.
The size of the turbo on the beezer is not up to one of the atmospheric valves (i.e. that woosh). If you fit one they lose power. It's only on cars with whopping size turbos (with lots of lag) like Cosworths/Scoobys that benefit.....they still sound like busses though.
