Hi all,

My Ibiza 8v is in the garage for the next few days(due to a faulty new catalic and a rattle in the dashboard) and i have been given a courtesey car. They gave me an Arosa 1.0. oh my god, it is slower than my first car which was a 900cc fiesta, top speed on the motorway was 95 on a flat, 80 up a hill and 97 down a hill. How could anyone buy a 1.0, i think it may feel so slow as i am use to a 2.0 torque'y engine, it is ok for a run around and if you are not into speed or a boy racer, but i cannot forgive the fact that the seats ae so damn uncomfortable, and it is bright red, some one might recognise me! Apart from that it is cheap and cheerful, but very difficult on motorway journeys as soon as you go over 65 it bounces all over the place as i am used to a car which sticks to the road and has some weight. I went round a corner in it sharply to see what its handling was like, i almost fell out of my seat, i guess i am use to seats which hold you in. Also the layout is not very smart, the heating controls are right down the bottom of the central console and you have to stretch to reach them, and why do they put 140mph on the clock, it would never reach that unless it had a turbo transplant, and if it did it would take off, soory to bitch about the Arosa, i know the 1.4 16v and the TDI are supposed to be quite nippy, but how anyone could buy the 1.0 just amazes me!! Also the clutch is so light and you barely have to move it to reach biting point, driving position is uncomfortable, only good thing is that their is plenty of head room, i will be complaining to Seat as to why i have been given such a cruddy car, i thought that they were supposed to give the equivalent of the car you own, so more likely i should have got a 1.6 or at least the 1.4 version of the Arosa!!!

Anyway i have had my say and bitch about the arosa, i will calm down now and go and get my daily dose of caffeine form the coffee machine!!

Calm..........

Simple really,... Its designed to be a town car not a motorway stormer. People who just pootle around town or take the kids to school dont tend to go 90mph:confused: :hammer:

that is what i thought, it is a disgrace to go from a 2.0 to a 1.0, very dispaointing, but as mentioned earlier, yes it is fine for pottering around in town but for any overtaking there is nothing in the engine which will allow you to do that, so frustrating when you put your foot down and it goes sod all no where, reaches maximum revs before you have even moved, but as long as my car is fixed that is the issue and i dont mind putting up with the cortesey car as you can rag the tits out of it!!

Hi Tony.
Seems to me the wee Arosa is goimg better than your car is for the moment. Maybe you'd rather walk?

Its ok having a slow courtesy car every now and again, it makes you realise what you've got in your own car.

And also makes you smile the next time you get in your own.

Mine was in for some work a few months back for about 3-4 days, i was given a 1.4 Ibiza, was ok, but slow to the extent of boredom, but jesus the day i got my Leon back, as i'd got used to the 1.4 Ibiza, i gunned it off and nearly wiped out :o

Its amazing how you have to alter your driving style when you have a car with some teeth :D

My point exactly.
Recently had a Vauxhall Corsa as courtesy car:o
Had to allow about a half mile clear road to overtake anything travelling at 50-60mph.
BUT when I got my own car back....Bloody rocket-ship.
Still, I was grateful to be (just) mobile though.

Yup, Courtesy cars are just that, a courtesy. They don't have to provide them, and id take a 1.0 Arosa over my feet or public transport anyday, cause one im a lazy git :) and two i like my independence and a car gives me that.

:car:

Anyway some cars are good enough for a purpose, and the Arosa is a town car, and does its job suitably well, its cheap, cheap to run, and doesn't cost a mint to insure.

In a town situation, i can't go any faster than the car in front or behind me. :fag:

But i like fast cars, and the nice interior, level of equipment that goes with it, and im fortunate that i can afford to buy and run one, and most of the time i like to use it as it was intended, and im happy I sometimes get the chance to open it up a bit, at track days etc.

Personally i wouldn't ever buy an Arosa they dont suit me, for one :)
And i do like power under my foot, but id still be glad of a car any car if my own pride and joy was in the garage, i need a car to travel, and i'd take a rusty old Vauxhall Chevette if i had to. :p

ok maybe not rusty ;)

Just remember a 2nd class ride is better than a first class walk, OK?

Once had an Arosa 1.4 s courtesy car (8v about 60bhp).
It had a body kit on  and 13 inch tri spoke alloys
Handing reminded me of my renault 5 days (sigh).
Not bad though, only thing is you can't fit 17's on it....:p v good in Tesco car park.

The worst courtesy car I've ever had was a brand new Rover 25 (12 miles on clock) my god it was 'orrible - so uncomfortable and the handling, lets just say that it was crap and leave it at that (I won't mention that it was still wobbling 200 meters after the corner) :)
